I think that stupid is a bit excessive....ill-informed maybe, unaware of some of the potential problems (including extreme weather) in remote areas, didn't do enough research before deciding to travel in the outback.....but when does that lapse into stupid.....I'm not sure. I admit I am not perfect at all times, but hopefully not stupid. They made a mistake, potentially a seriously dangerous one, but just a mistake.2010 MY 2011 VR-X V6. Stock standard.
Previously 02 NM auto V6 Exceed silver. Extra transmission cooler & transmission temp gauge, activated rear lights, Impco sequential LPG system, Redback (Wildcat) Headers, heavy duty radiator. Lovells shocks F & R, Polyair bags in rear.
My original Pajero experience - '90 NG Superwagon, 3.0 V6 manual bought new and kept until 1998. Great vehicle, no problems apart from the noisy valve lifters typical of that engine.

I agree. They were not locals, so they were most likely unaware of the hazards of travelling in that area at this time of the year. At least they knew about crocs. It would be so easy at that time of night to try to get back to dry land (they new it was behind them. I think they did the right thing given the circumstances after making a mistake.

I,ve lived remote for 20 plus years and have worked in the area these people got into trouble. Stupid? Bloody oath. They were traveling on a road that is posted as dangerous during the wet season. The Robinson would have been dirty and thus no way of knowing what the bottom was like, let alone if if had rocks, logs or other debris.Even when low the river has some good size rocks and potholes. Quite a few vans have suffered damage as a result of this river...and that's during the dry season. Anyone traveling into a remote area with bugger knowledge of what to expect is a bloody idiot. Even the local community people wont travel unless necessary. Unfortunately tourists seem to get themselves into all sorts of trouble through ignorance, stupidity and being ill prepared. I,ve even seen them move road shut signs during post cyclone times just so they could see the flooded land...never mind driving over fallen power lines! If you dont want to lable them as stupid fine...me..I,ll call em fwits.Dicko. FNQ

The people involved were certainly lucky to get out unscathed and I agree they did the right thing after it all turned to custard. But doing the river crossing at night and in a sole vehicle? At least they brought some snacks for the crocs to divert them - crocs will go for the dogs first.
I was amused at the idea of sheltering behind the roof rack. They really had NFI at all.2014 NW with OL bar, 9,500lb winch, Bushskinz, TJM dual battery kit, UHF, Outback drawers, ARB compressor, MSA fridge slide with Evakool fridge, 55mm lift and rear airbags, water tank and pump.

Did I miss something, where did it say they had dogs with them.2010 NT Activ, DiD+lazy shift. Bushskins+Boo's, Kings springs+Monroe shocks+Firestone Airbags, MM towbar, MM nudgebar.
