Just replaced fuel filter on my NX. Expected to get a low micron number for the CRD engine.

No. Fleetguard book lists FF5160 for all the 4m powered Pajeros, including my NJ 2.8L, for which I still have FF5160 in stock at home.

I thought that can't be right.

So I bought a FF????, same as I had previous purchased for other family members 4m41 powered Tritons. Half the physical size but smaller micron rating.

Wrong again. The Triton uses a 3/4" UNF thread. The Paj a 20mm metric thread.

Ended up getting a Ryco Z???. Small micron, and appears common amongst quite a few comon rail Toyota engines.

Will have to check up this FF5744.

      Hi Andrew,

Do Bearing Wholesalers order them in specially for you? I'm just trying to find a stockist in Melbourne, South-east if possible. There are Bearing wholesalers over this side, but thought I'd ask the question.

      Thanks.

        G'day Sparky,
I think they did order them in, but it could have been my one didn't have them in stock.
        Regards,
        Andrew

          Hi Gen 3 owners,

For those over in the South-Eastern burbs, Hallam truck centre can get in the Fleetguard filters at a very good price... I was quoted about $13 each. I assume Bayswater truck centre could also help. with those around that area too. Hallam required a deposit but all good.

            Hi Guys,

I am in desperate need of a water sensor for an NP 3.2DiD fuel filter. Does anyone have one excess to their needs?? I am not happy as I have gone to replace my fuel filter and the previous owner or mechanic has over-tightened the water sensor and stuffed the thread so now it won't hold.

I am in the South-east suburbs of Melbourne if anyone has one over this side and I have rung around the wreckers and MM. I can get one brand new but $144.10 is a killer.

            Any help would be appreciated.

$144 is much cheaper than the $5000+ repair bill you'll get if water gets in 👍.

These chaps have them for about $50 and I think this is the right part number – you’d want to check it before ordering.

I have absolutely no issue with having one as fuel/water don't mix really well in any engine... Without one it basically renders the vehicle useless. I think mine was very close to a big failure judging by the lack of thread left on the old one. I was just really 'annoyed' with person who serviced the vehicle previously and my subsequent rant/whinge in the bitches/gripes section. All good now.

That's for that Geoff, much appreciated. For that price, I might buy a spare down the track.

That is the correct part number for the NP fuel filter water sensor. I have a brand new one in my garage which I will install next time I change the fuel filter - same story, the plastic thread on my original one is getting a bit dodgy...
                      I paid $51.90 through Amayama.

The Ryco Z699 is a class leading fuel filter with specifications around 4 microns at 94%efficiency rating.

This is my recommendation if only using a single fuel filter for Gen 4 Diesel Pajeros.

It doesn't meet Parker Racor recommendation of 3 micron at 95% efficiency for CRD but is the closest available option.

DOnaldson make a very good filter that is 3 micron at 99% efficiency that can be used as a second filter.

Thanks for confirming that Dan as the description on the link stated fuel level sensor not a water sensor. If you have already purchased that item, it is only their description which is not clear.

Genuine filter after 20K - BP 80%, Caltex 15% and Shell/others 5% all big turn over places.
I take it Shell in Hawker SA would get through some fuel. Filled both tanks there.

Fleetgaurd on now, will run it for 20K (May do 10K) and see what it looks like.

                                Hi Phil,

Just noticed this thread I started back in 2016 got some attention....
Looks like the Fleetguard is rather grubby compared to the previous genuine filter pics.
Obviously the variable fuel quality for 10k could have a lot to do with it but it seems to be doing its job.
Mine is due for a change in 10k (20k) might hack it open for a look see.
