Hey mate, I've posted a few more photos at the link below. I haven't got any pics of the tube's off the car unfortunately but essentially I just bought 2 thick steel tubes, cut them to size, made up circular steel caps for the back and cut the fronts on an angle with a matching piece welded on so they're completely sealed. Then we welded them onto the car body, bogged and painted them. I also heavily fish oiled the underside because there's a gap under them now.

Thanks for posting. What were those wheels off? I am really good at picking them but just cant figure it out. Possibly an import?

Love seeing these old girls getting a bit of tlc. Love your work with the cup holders too I need something like that for my LWB.

The original rims are a bit of a mystery I'm afraid! I've never seen another set like them and they had absolutely no branding. They were 15x8's though so definitely a custom set rather than a weird factory version but other than that it's anyones guess.

              Tonka Transformation!

Got sent this pic from the paint shop today, couldn't be happier with the colour, it's going to look great once all the black accessories go back on!

Got her back late yesterday and spent most of the night putting everything back on!

Very happy with how it turned out, it's pretty much exactly how I imagined it looking

Awesome work mate! Its turned out really well.

Have you thought about doing the black around the windows like the gen 1 superwagons?

Also, the other day I was walking past an 80 series cruiser...and it had those wheels I was asking about! They might have been for a limited edition at some point. Explains why they are an 8 inch rim.

Do have any closer pics of your rear bar? Did you have it custom made or was it already there?

Yep, I'm considering doing the window section flat black, just want to let it be for a few weeks and see how I feel about it then before getting out the plasti-dip or whatever I end up doing it in

As for the rear bar... believe it or not, that's actually what's underneath all the plastic on the factory rear bumper! The plastic was deteriorated when I got it so I ripped it all off, ground off the metal tabs and gave it a coat of paint I'm not particularly fond of it though, I want to replace it with something a bit more heavy duty soon.
