    Whose had their NT tuned/remapped

As the title suggests i'd like some information on any of our NT owners who have forked out for a performance upgrade/tune/remap please?

what did you do and what sort of Torque and Power gains did u see?

i'd like a little more grunt when towing...

Have you got an auto transmission?
If so an aftermarket torque convertor lockup will make towing easier with less stress on your transmission and engine. I have a MM4x4 Auto Mate TC lockup kit on my Challenger and the improvement in the performance especially when towing has been huge, best thing is the ATF temperatures and Engine coolant/intake temperatures are all lower.

Expect around 25-30% increase in power and torque everywhere from a quality remap.
This will put a lot of extra heat into the trans, so best to have the lock up kit too.
It definitely changes the car dramatically.

I've been contemplating a tune since the day I got my Paj but I've found there are some good mods that can improve power delivery and consistency without tuning. Something to note is tuning is going to certainly add more heat to the intake and exhaust.

I feel as though the two best mods I've done so far are the JT intercooler and the Auto-mate TC lockup. This Xmas just gone when towing the van (>2.5T) I was amazed at how much extra pull the Paj had up hills with the intercooler. The previous year I had intake temps ranging from 60 to 108deg. This year driving the same road with an ambient of 31deg I saw nothing over 48deg. I could hardly believe it. Not as much grunt as a tune I'm sure but I'm hoping my long term reliability is greatly improved with the lower temps. I haven't towed with the Auto-mate yet but the results I'm seeing already it's going to be even better again.

              Benny.

+1 - I did an ECU remap & 3" exhaust a while back https://www2.pajeroclub.com.au/forum...1&postcount=16, then added an front mount intercooler https://www2.pajeroclub.com.au/forum...1&postcount=37. I drove a standard NX Pajero a little while ago and was surprised at the significant difference driving both around the suburbs & open road. It would be hard to go back...

                  Cheers,

Hi NTBenny. can you tell me more about your JT Intercooler, where and how its mounted, etc. On out last trip, after going through a few muddy water holes the intercooler got clogged. Looking to move mine somewhere higher/safer.

Did you install the JT Intercooler yourself or a local mechanic. Is the upgrade noticeable when not towing?

Search for "intercooler upgrade" of "jonny Tig intercooler" in this forum, heaps on info. Jonny tig is based in Adelaide. His kits are great, not an easy DIY install on the paj but doable if you are handy on the tools. Allow a day easily.

Sorry guys I've been away in central NSW. Happy to answer any questions or queries if the above threads don't give you all the information you were looking for.

Monitoring the intake temps during my recent trip (not towing) it consistently sat at just 6deg above ambient. Most hills between Newcastle and Dubbo only saw an increase of 4-5deg from bottom to top of said hill.

Trans temps were between 62deg and 68deg with Auto-mate doing its thing.

                            Benny.

I’ve done mrt ecu tunes on their hub dyno, have 500 nm torque at the wheels. Expensive but worth it if you want more power intercooler upgrade highly recommended as original just doesn’t cut it especially if you have bash plates installed and you plan on towing
