Should I use sealant on top of gasket ?

I just bout the RyCO transmission filter plus gasket, I saw lot of videos that People add some sealant on top of gasket.

    I asked RYCO, they answer:
We use nitrile / cork amalgam to give the compression of cork but the superior sealing and heat resistance of nitrile.

think in the old cork days sealant was commonly used.

Then I also asked if the RTV will damage the gasket:

The RTV is silicone. That shouldn't hurt the gasket at all.

Anyone used the sealant when changing the gasket of transmission? what kinda sealant?

If the surfaces are good no sealant is required on new gaskets.
That style of gasket shouldn’t require sealant.

As others have said and according to the online tech manual no sealant required just gasket.

Interesting to find out if stock gasket used some sealant.

What does it say in the workshop manual?
When I serviced the NW auto there was no sealant on the gasket.
The NM Auto was only sealed with silicone when I serviced it.

As I posted above workshop manual says no sealant just gasket for NT onwards. NS doesn't use a gasket just sealant.

As stated there are very few cork only gaskets used any more, almost all are composite. The main thing is to make sure both surfaces as CLEAN & DRY. A trick I have used since I was an apprentice 50 years ago is to wipe the surfaces clean with a dry rag then use aerostart sprayed on a rag to do the final clean. It drys completely and leaves a perfect surface for the gasket. Lacquer thinners works nearly as well but I prefer the smell of ether you have to be happy while you work

Bought 20L penrite atf lv fluid for 189$, then did intermittent flush, drained from return hose about 3L which I have used milk bottles. Then add 3L new fluid into filler hole, used milk bottle with two holes, one attached to air compressor.

I have done 4 flushes until it becomes red fluid, then I drained from the pan and removed the pan.

Totally I used about 15L, the rest of fluid I used in my corolla.

What type/size of washer is needed for the drain plug? About to do a full flush with new gasket and filter but need the washer ready to go when I do it (cant see what size until I remove it!)
