Front end noise after suspension upgrade.

We recently had a suspension upgrade done by TJM with TJM yellow springs and EFS shocks resulting in a 25 mm lift. Since then there has been a lot of noise from the front end over mild bumps. The noises were not there previously. We alerted TJM to this and were told that it would settle down which it has not.
Today they replaced a bush in a rear shock top mount and checked both head struts in the front shocks. They claim there were no problems. The noises are still there.
TJM are claiming it is a problem with the Pajero chassis. When questioned as to whether final tightening was done with a load applied to the shocks we were told that it was not necessary. Our research says otherwise.
Our dealer has checked the engine mounts and all other aspects of the front end finding no issues and nothing untoward is coming through the steering. TJM told me that this is a common occurrence with Pajeros. There has been a minor improvement after replacement of the rear bush.
    Have others had this problem?

Try spraying the bushes with a suitable lubricant one by one until you find it, start with the stabiliser bar to the body bush.

Loosen the shock bolts a small amount & drive in & out of the driveway then tighten them back up.

I had a squeak from the front when going over speed bumps in car parks about 2 months after I got Pedders suspension. I took it back and they looked at it, said it was the rubber cover rubbing on the tube. They put some grease on the rubber and it has gone away. No problem with about 5000km since.

              Hi JONW,
I did a suspension upgrade myself with the Lovells Bilstein combo in my 2013 NW and have found the same thing as what you're describing. Almost like a metal on metal knocking noise when going over small bumps in the front end. Big bumps don't seem to produce any noise. Been through plenty of rough 4wding since thinking it would help things settle but to no avail. I made sure to tighten everything once she was on the ground when I'd changed the springs and shocks out. I also have a definite squeak in the rear suspension too on both sides when I go over similar bumps.
Any ideas would be great to resolve these issues.
              Cheers

I had a couple of noise too after suspension upgrade.
Had the rubber tops the new springs sit in replaced & helped.
Had a rear squeak going over bumps too & after a massive amount of searching found that it was the park break cable assembly at rear wheels that need lubricating & sound stopped. Check this Woolybutt

I totally agree. If they didn't tighten under tension, you will get strange squeeks and things happening. Easy and quick to try.

I had the upgrade done with TJM shocks and EFS springs. Also had a metallic rattle when going over bumps/corrugations. Found out the installer had left out some of the bushes in the strut. Mind you TJM tried to tell me it was normal but only found out when I changed to OME shocks as I was tired of the TJM bottom bushes wearing out.

Apologies for delayed reply. After being given the brush off by TJM went to another specialist and had the front shocks changed to Bilsteins. Considerable improvement. If not heavily loaded there is still some noise from the rear EFS shocks but we can live with that. Very disappointed with TJM and we will never darken their doorstep again. Good luck with yours.

                        Hopefully fixed

The noises have hopefully been eliminated by removing the hard plastic boots around the from shocks so will see how this goes on next venture.

                          noisy shocks

My ARB shocks make quite a noise when the plastic cover sleeve rubs on the barrel.
I have tried to reposition these with no success, smearing grease on them shuts off the noise but is not good for dust accumulation.
Not happy but what can you do except change brands.

Good luck with that, mate. Care factor from our local dealer was zilch.
