    Fuel Economy

Hi guys I have been keeping track of my fuel consumption for the last year and I can say I am impressed with the Pajero. My worst is 11.36 litres per 100 km and the best is 7.11 litres per 100km. Usually it is around the 9-10 litre mark. Went to Kangaroo Island October last year four adults and lots of luggage 4300km consumption 8.15 litres. Got to love the diesel for economy and pulling power. Just thought I would put it out there and see what economy others are getting.

    Warren,

I average about 1050 klm's per fill which is usually between 75 & 80 ltrs, so I am very happy with the economy. Although 70% of that driving is highway driving where it sits on about 8.0l/100k.

can easily get around mid 13s fully loaded at 110.

see high 10s if travel at 80-90k

      I dont drive it slowly.

        Hi,

I've got a No Limits chip on mine, improves the economy a little as well as giving more power. Overall average for the life of the car 9.86 which includes about 15% towing. (76,000km so far). Last month no towing, just work and local so about 60% urban 40% highway averaged 8.16. Usually about 8.5-9 when not towing. These figures are all actual from lease reports.

        Cheers,
        Karl

I'm getting 16 l/100km on the highway and about 37 l/100km in the dunes - with a 3.8 litre petrol NT. I guess a diesel sips fuel at a steadier rate....

Diesel Auto towing 2500kg van - 13l/100km with a tail wind - 22l/100km with a headwind in hot weather... Long term caravan towing average about 17l/100km but the day to day and road to road variation is pretty huge.

Without the van is around 10l/1000km on the highway...

Manuals do better in the fuel economy stakes....

Good point, how about people state if they are manual or auto?

Just did a trip down south with a lightly loaded car, no trailer, and best I hit was 9.5L/100, which was a bit disappointing, however it only had 1200km on it when we left so still a bit of running in and loosening up to go. That's in an Auto.

Well that doesn't make me feel any better then!! 7.11 best figure, geez I hope ours still has a fair bit of running in to go then given ours only returned 9.5. Car was only with two people, two weekend bags and one mountain bike in the boot area. This is all on a main fairly straight highway fairly sheltered by trees too.

These figures must be taken from the screen as if you do your sums it doesn't compute. If you done 100% highway at 8s, not 70% as you said, this would only get you 1000km at best, yet you average 1050km per tank. I'm not having a go at you, in fact the opposite. The only 2 numbers you can trust are the odometer and the litres at the petrol pump, therefor based on those 2 figures, your economy is better than 8 and closer to 7.

                            Hi Rob,

I just use the setting as it came, haven't played with those at all. Mainly since it smokes plenty already and also seems on the edge of running smoothly when cold, so I figure it's putting out as much power as reasonable.

                            Cheers,

Mine is a manual, just ticked over 50000 kms. I generally always get under 10L/100 km unless I'm towing the trailer. I keep a tally for work as they pay my fuel and am averaging 9.1 over the 50000. Driving on the freeway the in-car average sits around 8.3
