Default Anyone using Ozi Explorer on Android?

There are a few alternatives out there, some with really nice features but all have the lack of support for many of our native map formats.
Why get annoyed if the solution might be so easy as creating our own Ozi interface?

I was wondering if there would be an interest in a new skin for the Android version?
For ease of use I would opt for the Hema layout.
So people coming from the HN devices should be able to get used to the new layout pretty easy.
It is a very time consuming project and since my Droid is in 1280x800 I would start with that resolution and might add another in the future.
I would like to get some feedback from Hema owners in regards to the general easy of use and what might need some changing.

On the other hand some might prefer a very basic interface, so if you are one of those users please feel free to rant what is bad in Ozi and would you think would be ideal for the bare essentials.

Once I got all the symbols converted I will upload some screenshots of the progress, but give me a bit of time

Edit:
Managed to get the symbols working now
Screens 1 to 8 as follows:

That means I need beta tester now - who is volunteering???
To make it interesting I will only consider changes submitted by my testers.
In the final version I will include all nicknames from supporting testers in the settings screen.
This way my tester can be sure their name will be known all over the world

Download the archive, password: downunder
Please unpack the archive to your PC.
Copy the new menu file to your Ozi folder on the device.
To use it go into the main menu,
Operation,
General,
Load Page file (landscape),
select the new menu file.

Play with it, test it and report back what you like or think needs changing.
Please keep in mind that no all features we know from the CE version are available in the current Android version.
That's why some functions are missing.
If the features become available I will update the menu accordingly.

Ozi menu by Downunder35m

Update: Big buttons

Still having problem to make the background images show up the device, but I'm confident to get that sorted as well.
Once done I will upload the menu.

Update:
Added a screen with a big speedo for those that like to some track days.
Speedo is in the middle with additional boxes showing acceleration and max values.
To reset the max values simply tap the box showing it.
Sadly I found no way to do this without a confirmation box.

You can download the new menu here.

Sounds like a great idea especially if it's user friendly.
Look forward to seeing screenshots.
Will it come with maps? haha

Have cut the menu down to 8 pages for the essentials, but now I'm utterly stuck
Everything looks really fine in the designer, but on the device none of my cutom icons show up, just blank spaces.
Found several people on the net asking for a solution but noone posted one LOL
If anyone here might have an answer on why only the icons supplied with the designer show up please don't keep it to yourself

Did not find an answer to the my problem, but worked around it.
Please check the first posting for updates and downloads.
If you download the new menu, please report back what you think about it.

It is just a RAR archive with the menu file in it, no chance for any virus.
AVG is not one of the most accurate anyway
And since I'm active in many forums you won't see any malicious files in my name

Default oziexplorer on android

Using android on Toshiba as150 tablet 7" in car and Samsung galaxy tab2 10" as backup. I had already designed my own pages for my previous winCE gps and just used same set out for android. There is of course the issue that the icons for winCE and android are different and non-transferable. Like you I did try custom icons for the android pages but no success. All the designated functions worked but the various buttons were blank as android would not pick up my custom images. After emailing Des, at ozi explorer, I have accepted that android is a much more "controlled" system than the CE version.
My main difference to your approach is that, due to aging eyeballs and fat fingers, I have moved to placing functions on buttons around various screens (5 pages at present) so I do not have to find menus while on the move. Over time I have found it easy to determine which functions I actually use , as opposed to which functions are actually available, and just design my pages to suit my needs. It also allows me to have exactly the same function buttons in the same place on all devices. Albeit the icons are different for CE and Android.
I'm not sure how to upload my screenshots into one post, so while I figure that out if anyone is interested in my pages drop me a pm an it would be a snap to email the page file (for screen designer)
I have also found both tablets accept the same page files from the screen designer and automatically match resolution to suit screen size. Makes page design very easy in that regard.
Cheers
Peter
