Default NB Pajero "Popping" popping out of low range

Hello guys,
I need your advise again. the last couple of times I have been out for a play in Dot Com (my gen 1 Pajero) and it has popped out of low range a couple of times mainly when going down a steep hill.

What do you think it could be?

Cheers Andy

A quick browse over google suggest that maybe it is a sign of worn transfer case internals. I am no mechanic but here is the link to what I found.

how is the low range activated, is this a manual mechanical lever or switch operated solenoid affair?
I remember you had to play with some wires in this area when you first got dot com.

bugger was hoping it may have been a simple solenoid thing.
Without seeing the parts diagrams it's hard to say, sometimes things can be adjusted which may aid the gear locking in.

Hope some one arrives with a little more input.

My old ND wagon did it a couple of times, but I only had it for about 18 months before I got my NG (which has a stronger gearbox and I assume different transfer case). Sorry I couldnt be of any use but you arent the only one who has suffered this problem if that makes you feel any better lol.

Good luck!!

Hey Dot Com, I've got the same issue at the minute where the transfer case pops out of low range when going down a steep hill. I know this is an old thread but did you ever get it fixed and if so how?
Thanks,
Ryan
