    alternator belt adjustment.

Okay, this is going to sound ridiculous, but which way should I be turning the alternator adjustment bolt to tension up the belts ?

Was tired and in a panic to get belts on last night. Worked it out but thank you.

How on earth did you manage to loosen the nut on the alternator pivot bolt?
I can't seem to get a tool on to it. Have un-clipped the wiring harness that sits behind it.
Can get a breaker bar on to it, but there's no room to swing the bar.

Apologies for reviving an old thread but I've lost the bolt that attaches the alternator adjuster bracket to the engine block. I guess I forgot to tighten it when I changed the belts a few months ago. I was hoping the bolt had dropped down and was sitting somewhere convenient, but there's no sign of it so I'll need to source a new one. Can anyone tell me what size thread it is?

All fixed. Searched high and low in various boxes of parts and found a bolt with the right thread.
