its a moot point imo.

love the car, add stuff.. enjoy the ride and simply fill the tank..

if there is problems it will start with an extremely high fuel usage. way above normal.

far too many factors can change this.

I think my overall average is around 10 point something.
Around town it's probably about 13-14 but that's mainly because I only commute <10km and that is not good for 'daily' consumption comparison.

Best I've seen was on the way back from the Snow.
Filled up about 100km south of Sydney on the Hume.
Drove home to Newcastle, then a trip up to Lemon Tree Passage to stick a boat on the roof and come back, and filled up back in Newcastle, came up with 9.1/100.

Anyway, considering the cube it's lugging around, what it can do and my 'heavy' foot, figures even close to this are really very impressive in my opinion.
For comparison, our 05 Forester XT Auto struggles to get below 10 ever (and that's 95 octane at least), and my previous car (TJ AWD magna) used to chew more than the pajero does at all times.

(Sept 04 NP Auto @ 300,000km.)

When I first bought it with alloy bullbar, highway tyres, no roof bars and nothing but me in it I got about 8 on the way home with mostly freeway trip (I was going a bit slow because I didn't yet know the speedo was out by approx 8km/h).

Now I get around 10 average locally and about 9 on the highway with alloy bullbar, A/T tyres, roof bars and a couple of hundred kilos of stuff in the back

Since I got the diesel gas system it can knock towing 2,500kg caravan from 17-18 litres per 100km down to about 13-14 (plus 1 litre of LPG per 100km) while doing it much easier and 1 gear higher on steep hills.

Over 7 fuel ups, my average fuel usage is 10.8L/100.
This is over a total of 4255km's, which includes a return trip to Adelaide from Melbourne.

My fuel consumption for the trip there was 9.9L/100, and returning home around 10.2L/100. The odd thing here is, that the usage while in Adelaide sightseeing etc which was not all highway driving, saw my fuel economy at its best, at 9.34L/100

My Paj has done 260000km, but I feel this usage is a little high. I was hoping after what I read on the forums here when I bought my Paj that I would be seeing average consumption of 10 or below. I would have thought my Adelaide trip would have easily been down around 8-9L.

Are my expectations way off, or am I about average as far as fuel usage goes for an engine with this many Km's? I have included a screenshot of my entire usage if it helps.

Basically I want to know if I may have an issue that needs to be rectified, or if I am on a par with everybody else regarding fuel usage.

Thanks!
I'm getting anywhere between 14-18litres/100 Kms in the city, I think something is wrong???

I got 14-16 city. Highway slightly better, around 12-13. And that's with 285/75R16 Cooper discoverer STT pros on, winch and snorkel. Can't figure out is it too much or there's something wrong..

Default Fuel Consumption

Amazingly close to mine as well - 2004 auto 3.2 DiD, 235000km gets 10.7 l/km.

My previous car, Subaru Outback returned 10 l/km over 7 years of averages, so very happy with a 3 tonne Pajero being about the same as the Subi!
