I went to the ACCC site where a page came up where I put in the Rego number which went to MM web site which showed my VIN and ACTIVE at the end, any other word than completed means I have to contact Mitsubishi to find out more, so there is a better than 50% that it is on the list. Thanks disco stu will send the VIN.

https://www.productsafety.gov.au/rec...on-my1997-2000

"Mitsubishi Motors Australia will offer to buy back the vehicle at current market value"

If we don't want to have the car bought back at a potentially low price, i guess we can just remove the airbag modules and keep driving it knowing the it's now airbag less. Anyone who knows wouldn't want to buy it as well so the value of it will decrease significantly.

Personally I've just had the engine rebuilt and new suspension 6 months ago so I'm loathed to off load it.

Unfortunately you will only get away with it for a while. After 2 (or is it 3?) requests to present your car for recall (in this case buy back negotiations) MMAL can forward your vehicle details to the rego authority in your state and you will be issued with a letter stating your vehicle will be de registered as it is deemed unroadworthy.

I wonder what this is doing to the value of NKs? There might be a few people in the market for a nice clean NK, so they can swap the good bits over.

weird I searched and went through it by sight --- no issues still want to work out how I can get to keep my wagon...

apparetnly a 380 wheel is a bolt in

but as stated I have a non airbag interior from a NL in mine --- I need to find the exact legality on getting that legitimately recognised so I can get off the recall list.... no only have i rebuilt all the front end I have many other mods that have brought this vehicle up to a state beyond its market value - and seeing as this is the car I actually want what do I replace it with

I am not saying I have a silver bullet and it may prove futile but the matter of the technical legalities of MMAL only offering a buy back resolution when there IS another solution available specifically for the NL (3 full pages of tech and legislation talk) is now in the hands of the ACCC.
It may be a little while.
I will post here when I have an answer from them.
I hope nobody rushes into anything.
I was going to use a twist of an old saying "I'll give you my Pajero when you pry it from my cold, dead hands" but seeing
as I am going in for open heart surgery at the end of the month I thought I might be tempting fate!!!

Just to add to any confusion, this news story shows a photo of an NM.
