Default Shifting rpms for manual NM

Hey guys probably a stupid question but anywho

What rpms do you guys shift up on these things?
Mine seems to really really like to be pushed at 3-3500 before up shifting.
Is this normal for these things?
Shifting at 2500 just makes this thing so sluggy and seems to really hate life.

My ideal sits at 1000 very smoothly and quite if this helps with my question, also duel fuel too.
Both gas and petrol seems to love it.

My Old GQ was around the same but more at 3500-4, but this was geared different to standard and was a carby.
My old vt commodore...well i never drove that like a normal human anyway.

Many thanks in advance.

Mine is low k's (180000ish) and in good health.
I usually change at around 3000, it won't do hills in 5th, 4th and sometimes 3rd needed.
I do live in the hills!
The peak torque is up there at 4000 and peak power 5000.
So to keep it flying you need to be between 4 and 5k!
Cheers
Dave

Manual is more fun with petrol than diesel. Was driving a diesel manual dual cab until I bought a NX (auto).

My Max Elery W/S manual says max torque for the 3.5 MPI Engine (6G74) is 300 NM @ 3000 R/Min. For the 6G 75 (3.8L) MPI, it is 329 NM @ 2750 R/min. The maximum power is 153 kW @ 5000 R/Min for the 3.5 (6G74) and 175 kW @ 5500 R/min for the 3.8 (6G75). You will find that the engine pulls smoothly from about 1000 R/min upwards. Maximum torque is generally set at about 100 km/h in top gear, and this would be the best efficiency point as well.

I was once told that they build battleships and cruisers to withstand 6" shells, but they don't take them out and test them that way. Why take the engine to very high revs unless you actually need the power eg you are in a race situation?
