Tropical Cyclone Oma will bring strong winds and heavy rain over the coming days, the Bureau of Meteorology says, warning the category two system could cross the southern Queensland coast early next week.

I’d be very surprised if it gets to the southern QLD coast and crosses as a cyclone, but it isn’t outside the realms of possibility!
March 2017 ex-TC Debbie went right over the top of Brisbane. It lost a lot of energy over land coming down from the north, but it still brought pretty bad weather!
The difference here is Oma is still overwater before possibly aiming at the Brisbane region, which will assist to keep it active.
Personally my gut feeling is that it’ll probably steer out to the east/south east some time in the next 48-72hrs; before it gets within a couple hundred miles off the QLD coast.
Still, plenty of wind and rain in store for SEQ over the weekend.
Qld. Beautiful one day, blown away the next!
'99 NL Escape, Manual - Bullbar, roofrack, cargo barrier, D697LT, Tough Dogs, dual batts, rear draws, Narva 225 HID, UHF, led bar etc
Towing: 4.8m Savage Centurion half-cab w/75hp Mariner
'99 NL GLS SWB, Auto - Bullbar, D697LT, spotties, UHF, Koni adjustables & King springs.
Umm, well, looks like my gut feeling wasn’t quite right! Still doing a swing, but to the north-west instead. Modelling I’ve looked at has it basically paralleling the coast north from Saturday.
SEQld Coast now on a cyclone watch. Anyone know when was the last time Brisbane city was actually on a cyclone watch?
