MMCS Override, iPod Cables, Towing Camera

    Hi Everyone,

Just want to introduce AMM Solutions Pty Ltd (Automotive Multimedia).

I am now a partner in this company having had my override kit, iPod cable and other ideas 'commercialised' into production.

The override kits are now totally 100% plug and play - NOT a single cut of a wire, drill or tap .. they come with a wire harness that just plugs between the MMCS and the interface, Same with the switch - we have had switches to suit the Mitsubishi made for us.

The iPod cables are now very high quality - better than most OEM cables, the connector for the MMCS is now a right angle with lock so it doesn't vibrate free or pinch wires - The iPod cable now works like the OEM - no more 'Reset and reconnect' messages.

I have also worked very hard with a manufacturer to product a direct Mitsubishi Multimedia unit for 2006 - onward Pajeros, they are very high quality and integrate directly into the Paj dash.

We also have 2.4G wireless towing cameras that plug directly into the MMCS - you can switch between the van or the reversing camera and it will even operate the camera on the MMCS whilst you are driving so you can see what is behind.

we are now looking for other product ideas, so if there is something you want, something that frustrates you about the MMCS - then let us know and we will see what we can do (BTW: NO!, we can't remove the nag screen!)

    please look at our website

    www.ammsolutions.com.au

    Thanks
    Keith

    Hi Keith,

I've had one of your earliest override cables (you came to the Gold Coast to install it) for about 3 years now and it still works great!

I like the sound of the wireless camera that connects to the MMCS, so you can use it whilst driving.

We've already got one on the back of the van, but we could use the camera for the rea of the boat. Would tha work okay?

Good to have eyes in the back of your head as we often load up the cargo area to the top of the roof!

Please leet me know when they are in stock.

Any probs with them being wireless? (Interference, etc). Any probs with the car bluetooth and the camera?

Are you still installing them or if not, who would you recommend on the Coast?

    Thanks,
    Sally

      Hi Sally,

We are just waiting on the plugs for the harnesses to be made (Mitsubishi in Japan) - they are about 3 weeks away.

There is no prob having the wireless cameras on the boat or van or anywhere. They operate in the 2.4Ghz and the signal is digital - very little to no interference.

The camera has a range of about 100m line of sight, we have tested it in a very RF Noisy environment without interference over about 50m. With the receiver located behind the dash, it still has excellent range - far greater than any boat or van size the Paj could tow!...

I will let you know when they harnesses are in stock - or we can still 'splice' one into your MMCS straight away - (would be at a reduced cost).

      Cheers
      Keith

        Hi Keith,

        Thanks for the prompt reply!

        Sounds great.

I think we'll wait for the harness, as that's an easier install.

Please let me know when they arrive.

        Thanks!

          Hi Keith

Can you please tell me the viewing angles of the cameras?
I'm interested in placing one on the rear of my caravan to see what's coming up behind.

              Replacement MMCS Questions

              Hi Keith,

A couple of questions about the replacement GPS/DVD system.

Is it plug compatible with MMCS v2 (MY13 NW) or only MMCS v1?

Does it have auxilliary input via RCA or 3.5mm plugs? Can it take input from a TPMS?

Has it been tested with iPod Classic 160Gb? If so, how long does it take to setup comms with the iPod? Are track names etc visible? Is scrolling through songs/artist/albums/etc seemless and instantaneous?

Does it have a "Mute" switch?

              What is the screen resolution?

Does it use the existing micrphone for Bluetooth?

Will it recognise my HEMA maps?

How are iGO map updates handled? and how much are they?

Does it have a better glare resistant screen than the MMCS?

Do you have a sales outlet/installer in Sydney?

              Cheers, Brett

                Answers to GPS Quesiton ...

A couple of questions about the replacement GPS/DVD system.

Is it plug compatible with MMCS v2 (MY13 NW) or only MMCS v1?

At this stage we have not completely tested with MY13 - All indications are that it is compatible

Does it have auxilliary input via RCA or 3.5mm plugs? Can it take input from a TPMS?

No 3.5mm, but does have AUX, as long as your TPMS supports composite video out then it can display.

Has it been tested with iPod Classic 160Gb? If so, how long does it take to setup comms with the iPod? Are track names etc visible? Is scrolling through songs/artist/albums/etc seemless and instantaneous?

Yes, support for Classic / Nano / Touch / iPhone 3,4. Full display and control of music folders/artists/playlists. Comms is basically USB2.0 so v.fast

Does it have a "Mute" switch?

                Yes

                What is the screen resolution?

                800 * 480

Does it use the existing micrphone for Bluetooth?

Part of our changes for this unit was to include external mic - internal mics are hopeless

Will it recognise my HEMA maps?

                Yes

How are iGO map updates handled? and how much are they?

We are currently still under negotiation with iGO to enable our customers to update through the iGO website (naviextras.com) - Our plan is to provide lifetime free maps but this is still under negotiation.

Does it have a better glare resistant screen than the MMCS?

I think the display is very good - It has good brightness and contrast control

Do you have a sales outlet/installer in Sydney?

                Not at this stage.

I'm just wondering if anyone has actually bought one of these cameras and if so, would like to give some feedback.

Previously I had purchased one of Keith's iPod cables and switch. The whole transaction was very smooth and without hassles. So following the above reply I ordered and paid for one of his new towing cameras.

After waiting patiently for 2 months or so and not receiving anything but promises I asked for a refund which was agreed to and in an email dated 14th June Keith said: "I am organising the refund today. After speaking with my business partner we would like to offer you the camera kit at no charge for your patience. I know we originally said the harness was only a couple of weeks away and unfortunately this turned out to be much longer, albeit out of our control."

On the 27th June after more emails I received my refund - four months after placing the order. I'm still waiting on the camera ....

                    Not just Ipod

                    Hi Keith,
First off, this looks like a great idea and well done on taking it to the next level and going commercial . While I am not likely to get one in the near future, I would like to make a suggestion. How about not limiting your product to Apple products? This is my biggest beef with the tech industry at the moment is that a lot of companies only cater for apple users. There are plenty of other devices out there and many of them are much better than the fruit. While I freely admit I am a little biased against the fruit but I would love to see companies move away from the fruit as the only option.

                    Regards,

                    Jas

Has anyone installed one of these reversing camera's as yet? I'm very interested in the ease of install. I have a Hayman Reese towbar, which doesn't disable the reversing beeper, so will it engage the caravan camera & override the car camera? Is AMM Solutions even in business now?

                      Thanks,

I purchased a AMM Solutions revering camera kit but there were numerous problems with the design. AMM response was very poor and got worse as time went on. Now they wont respond to me and it looks like I have no chance of refund. I suspect the kit is not suitable for many Pajs due to differing loom arrangements. Would not recommend although the concept seemed to be a great idea. Gone to Safety Dave and now have kit that works.

I emailed them a few months ago re their MMCS cable which I was about to purchase. I've had no response and consider myself lucky not to have spent my cash by purchasing online with this company. Extremely poor service and communication seems to be the theme if you search this Forum.
