    Daylight Saving 2017 begins

NSW, ACT, Victoria, SA and Tasmania

Just a reminder that Daylight Saving begins on Sunday Oct 1st @ 2am

    Set clocks FORWARD 1 hour

Yep, on Satdy night set the alarm for 1.45am Sunday morn so you have time for a cuppa before re-setting your clocks at 2am. ;-)

Ya know, I've often wondered what would happen if I missed 2am by a few minutes.
    Would anyone know

I was in Wollies today and overheard a conversation waiting in the queue between a couple of.....well lets say more mature ladies..........went something like this.

"The clocks go forward this weekend"
"Yes does that mean we get extra sleep?"
      " I think so......no perhaps not"
      "Are you sure?"
      "What?"
" That we get an extra sleep?"
      "Well last year we did"
" Oh it must be then"
"Or was that the year before"
      Etc
      Etc

This went on for quite a while, until I couldnt help myself and say "excuse me, it means we lose an hour in bed as the clocks go forward".

For the next 20 seconds I had these 2 lovely ladies look at me quizzical then each other until finally one says.....

"No I think you're wrong, we get extra sleep"

By this point the checkout girl jumps in saying the same.

      "Are you sure love?"
      "Yes I am"

"Well I'm not" says the old duck "can we get the manager over please?"

Over he comes and confirms what me and the checkout girl has said. They seam content and walk out the store.

I get served and walk out, catching up to them towards the car park. The final thing I heard as passing them was.....

"I'll ask in the post office, she'll know"

I had a little chuckle and just continued on

                Daylight Saving 2017

                Thankfully it is finally here.
I absolutely detest the noisy birds waking me up so early, it will now be an hour later!

All I can say is that the local magpies, wrens, wagtails, grey shrike thrushes and the wattle birds must get all the worms.

It doesn’t take daylight saving. Our resident Magpie sat in the tree outside our bedroom windows at 2:00am. during the last full moon, and warbled his heart’s content for ages. And as for those bloody Willy Wagtails ...

Lucky you don't have the noisy, screaming stone curlews. Sounds like someone screaming as though they are getting murdered. Buggers only do it at night time...

                    Bird Call
Bush stone-curlews make a somewhat eerie, wailing noise at night, which is actually pretty cool! This call has been responsible for many a phone call to the police, from people thinking someone was screaming in the bush. For this reason the bush stone-curlew is also known as the 'Screaming Woman Bird'.

Swifts don't breed in Australia. They breed in Asia so no need for nests.

Read a post somewhere years ago with a supposed Indian saying pertaining to daylight savings:
"Only a fool cuts one foot from one end of a blanket and stitches it to the other end and thinks he has a longer blanket"
