I didn't buy a new manifold but I rang around to get a quote , as one work shop suggested that rather than cleaning to replace with a new one , and i was curious on what they sold for , apologies for the confusionGeorge

By the way, my dealer advised on email to me that a catch can and a pre/primary oil filter are OK for warranty. I did not ask about a secondary/post oil filter. I've had my manifold cleaned at around 75000km before I fitted the EGR block. A few photos what it looked like before and after cleaning.

Fair dinkum, mechanics are becoming parts fitters.
Fancy fitting a new manifold because it is dirty.
So just unbolt the dirty one, throw it away & fit a new shiney one???
Sounds reasonable
I seen a mechanic recently decide a machine required new radiator, big radiator, as it was chokka with oil & blocked.
Dishwasher capsules & hot water ended up a fairly cheaper option, followed by degreaser it turned out.Mitsubishi Pajero NX MY16 GLS with Sand Grabba floor mats, Ultragauge, Automate & Paddle gear shifters with Vlads traction control mod, Nautia switch panel, ARB compressor, Redarc Tow Pro, Anderson plug, Bushskinz front & rear alloy plates, Kaon light duty cargo barrier & rear door table

$200 Chinese radiator and 1 hours labour and know the job will last at least a year or 2, v's 2 or 3 hrs labour and not knowing if cleaning will have the desired affect so might have to replace radiator anyway.
Our workshop recently cleaned a front end loader radiator as you described, but that was a $2000+ radiator v's 2 or 3 hrs of the apprentices time.PCOV Member 1107.

Parts fitters called mechanics are becoming common i think.
& I agree labour is becoming more expensive & definately one reason & a big reason as well, so first option becomes replace & of course its easier, so it becomes the way it is done.
The art of nut it out & repair, make it work is unfortunately a dying art & as you rightly say for many reasons, it's just a fact of the modern world.
Fendt/ German built tractor parts as to what I was refering to are not overly cheap I can assure you, think BIG Mercedes! It was more like a 4 day job, the dreaded oil cooler failure, very similar actually to what happens to the odd Pajero, but a rather much larger scale .Last edited by Jasonmc73; 08-05-20, 11:55 PM.Mitsubishi Pajero NX MY16 GLS with Sand Grabba floor mats, Ultragauge, Automate & Paddle gear shifters with Vlads traction control mod, Nautia switch panel, ARB compressor, Redarc Tow Pro, Anderson plug, Bushskinz front & rear alloy plates, Kaon light duty cargo barrier & rear door table
