Smile crank angle sensor or cam angle sensor

Hi,

just a few questions.

my engine light came on while driving the other day and car started shaking and shut down.

I couldn't start it again, it would crank but engine would not start.

auto sparky said it would cost $380 to get the cam / crank sensor replace.

is this a common problem with pajeros?

am I getting ripped off?

what does the cam / crank angle sensor do?

Sounds about right for a replacement.

And that's the wank wank wank and more wank factor out of the way.
