rattle on startup

hi ,I have what sounds like a tappet rattle when engine is cold than goes away after a few minutes. does anybody have any idea why this is. I have an nt diesel. thanks

Likely just injector noise.. they're not the quietest of engines

Possibly valves need adjusting. Just did mine yesterday, had a rattle and all quiet now.

Or timing chain tensioner or timing chain top guide worn. Was your Pajero part of timing chain tensioner recall? I also changed these yesterday.

thanks kyle and aussieintas. I have had the guide recall done all up to date there.i would have thought if it were tappets they would rattle hot or cold but I am no mechanic so don't know.thanks
