Default All terrain spare tyre mount issues?

Hi all,

Has anyone had issues fitting an All terrain tyre in the rear door carrier with the 50mm spare wheel lift plate? In the process of having BFG AT fitted on the Paj and want to get a spare to match, I have upped from a 65 series side wall to 70 and can't quite see this going on the door bracket and not binding on the cover.

Alternatively, is the a strip down method to change OEM to something where the spare is exposed whilst having number plates and camera accommodated.

Cheers

Hi Hamish,

I have Kumho MT51 in 265/70R17 with spare wheel lift. This fits on the bracket OK and the cover just closes. The cover pushes out a little but is just OK.

This is on an NS Pajero.

Cheers,
James

My NT is currently running Toyo OPAT II 265/65 R17, the spare fits on the back with lifter kit & standard cover with a very slight bulge. These A/T tyres have a fairly aggressive tread pattern so there is a little interference on the sides of the cover. It needs a little pressure exerted while securing the retaining bolts.

Previous Bridgestone D697 A/Ts fitted without issue.

Cheers,
Stephen

Thanks James and Stephen for the feedback, I'll give it a good shot. The Kumho MT are a hefty tyre, I have a push already with the bog standard OEM Geolander.

Cheers

Certainly is a tight fit, the BFG AT have a sharper edge, but should be ok looking at this. I have all four corners completed now, still running the original OEM Geolander spare on the door which is a squeeze to close cover. Will get a matching spare at some stage. Spent my budget and will look for a good used tyre.

Can't wait to get on the dirt with these, on the road, these BFGs are great, can hardly hear them after Michelin Latitude Cross.
