OP mentioned replacing the boss on the wheel. This would not be covered by the certification by the manufacturer.

It seems you just want to disagree with every point.

So i have given my informed advice.

Its all about liability if accident happens. Like many other cars that have adjustable wheel reach and driver decides to position the wheel a bit closer to the body. Accident happens, and the airbag doesn't perform the way it should due to the distance, who is liable for that? I would say it just makes the factory easier to get away if we modify anything of the car

Thanks for being open to trying to solve the problem nj swb, it's appreciated that you balance an understanding of the purpose of the ADRs with a practical perspective of their intent and the OP's needs.

Like the OP, I'd welcome a shorter reach on an NX, and am interested in possible solutions.

Umm.

Can't see were OJ has commented in this thread.
Also the OP wants to length the steering column not shorten it.

Oops, too many threads open at once. It was the ever-helpful nj swb who was focused on finding a solution. I've corrected my post accordingly.

I too want to lengthen the steering column for a shorter reach distance.
