The reduced clearance with Brown Davis, long Ranger and LRA are also an issue. It all comes down to where your clearance issue is: ramp over or departure angle.

Personally, I would think ramp over in my situation was a lesser risk to me.

The tank will scrape in the Simpson on some dunes but no problem.
But if you're only buying it for that why bother...a full tank and one jerry will get you across easy, take 2 for just in case....dismiss if space is an issue.
For a petrol and family of four I had no choice
My NM 3.5 V6 uses around 110-120L...Mt Dare-Bville...you'd use far less.
Just a thought.

I used 134L in a 3.2L gen 3. QAA and French lines, direct Birdsville to Mt Dare. I was towing a camper though, at least 1.5T loaded.

Having had an aux tank in both my gen 3 and gen 4's, I wouldn't be without one. The expense you eventually get over, the knocks and scrapes you are forever vigilant of, but the benefits when you have one is fantastic. lately though, even having 170L of fuel, its not enough
