A couch style Backseat 2nd row

    Hey Guys,

I'm about to buy a bigger 4x4, to go for a trip around Australia, preferably a Pajero 2nd or 3rd gen.
Wer are going to build some drawers in the back and a kitchen setup on top of it and into the drawers.
We would like to remove all the backseats because they're blocking a lot of space and a not very versatile.
We would like to build in a Couch style 2nd row with some drawers in the bottom to make it a bit more cosy in the back and want to fit it a bit more backwards to get a bit more of leg room.
My question would be, if it would be possible to build a Bench by ourselves and fit it out with some lap belts to transport two other passengers if necessary? How does the law look like? Has it to be reviewed as a part of the road worthy check or similar? Or are there even aftermarket benches similar to this available?
I attached a picture of the style I would like to have.

Would defo need a road worthy certificate and I'd think you'd have to look into the rules and regs about lap belts, fixing of seats etc.

Of note have a look at link below, some countries actually had a option 2 bench seat configuration
for the rear iif the Pajero.
