    Synthetic atf

Does anyone know if the Mitsubishi ATF is synthetic or part synthetic. If not has anyone used synthetic. It's claimed synthetic resists temperature degrading more than mineral fluid, especially when towing. Any thoughts out there.

I followed some advise through this forum and changed to Penrite full synthetic SP3 recently. Works great and is as cheap as chips. There are a few threads on this topic worth reading.

Worth noting whatever is used must meet the specification shown in the handbook to maintain warranty coverage.

Do not use SP3 in this vehicle, synthetic or not. SPIV is correct.
Put SP3 in your NP if you’ve got one.

I have been told by my mechanic that the Nulon multi vehicle trans fluid which is fully synthetic not only meets, but overrides Mitsi specs. He has also told me that this trans is the same as a Toyota 100series auto, have been using this fluid with pleasing results. I them went onto the Nulon product selector page for my car and yep, all good.
Aparently when towing is when you will find the big difference.

ATF - PA should be used in NX pajero. I recently purchased a 20 litre drum from Mitsubishi dealer for $450. Ask for trade price. I have the vehicle serviced by an independent mechanic who worked for Mitsubishi for a number of years and awarded Master Technician by Mitsubishi. He flat out refused to change transmission fluid unless genuine fluid was used as he has seen transmissions problems with incorrect fluid used. All other fluids, engine oil, diff, transfer he is happy to use non genuine. Transmission only genuine fluid. I’ll take his word on this.

Can anyone confirm this and the auto brand and model number?? It should be bullet proof if this is the case

                    Auto transmission servicing

Looking at getting the auto serviced, I was quoted $145.00 does that sound right, oil & filters changed???
Thought it would be a bit more but I don't really know that why the post

You'd have to ask what fluid they're using and whether it's a proper flush or just drop the pan and change the fluid they can get at. Given the price of the genuine ATF that quote seems low.

Sounds awfully cheap to me! Genuine oil alone is triple that. Even other brand oil would be more than $145. I think a full flush requires the use of 12-15 litres (10 or so of which is what it holds and a few more to flush).
                        Cheers, Hatto

Just looked in the owners manual and it says 11ltrs. Not sure if this is for the whole system or just the trans itself.

Mitsubishi charge about $400 for transmission service. Trade price for fluid is $450 for 20 litre drum. I wouldn’t risk a cheap fluid change, what are they using?
