Damage is fixed! New sill, resprayed doors, new pin stripe. Looks brand new!

Had a productive day on the car today. First chace I have had to work on it for ages!

Finished spraying the long range tank (no pics yet), installed the roof console and removed the rear bumper ready for straightening. Oh I also put a sticker on the rear window.

Tried removing the sway bar but I dont have a spanner or socket big enough...anyone know what size bolts they are? I might go and borrow my mechanic's down the road...

      sprayed tank.

Not going to be able to install it until later next month. A bit strapped for cash at the moment so am going to attempt it myself. Also going to do an oil change myself too.

Any tricks with swapping tanks? I am going to use a trolley jack.

I have noticed a bit of silt in the tank too, and am hoping it will all come out thru the drain hole and possibly after a flush.

Also, exciting stuff but new mudflap...

Hoping to get some sort of 'caratent' next year, so I spent an hour or so at the wreckers with this Paj and pulled the HD towbar off it. Then I pinched the tongue from the jeep it was sitting next to. Also got a spare centre console lid. $75 all up I was very happy, with the exception of a few skinned knuckles, a lot of sweat, and switching between metric and AF tools...

Looked to be a backpackers car. A heap of red dust throughout, false floor in the back, national park stickers from Qld, Vic and SA. Always sad to see a car at the end of its life, especially one that has done a bit of travelling.

Tank is in (finally). Was a pain but worth the cost saving of doing it yourself. Probably 2 days worth plus a trip to the wrecker and a local hose place. I still have a little separator tank/canister to remove (tank squashed it bwteeen the floor and the top of the tank) but given the difficulty in getting the tank in I dont want to remove it in a hurry! Might see if my mechanic can somehow extract it!

and a little photo of my comprehensive drawer system...well thats the plan...

Good to see the tank in now mate - looks tops..

I love those style roof consoles too, heaps of room to mount radios and have storage space..
I used to have one in my old NE that ran from the mirror to the centre interior light, once two radios were in it it was full....

Yeah it looks pretty good I am happy!

I love my roof console. I have always wanted one that sits under the window. Not sure why, possibly because its a period accessory and this particular unit was made in 92 and kept in plastic ever since (never fitted).

Update time! Sliders are finally in the making. Saying I am happy with how they are coming along is an understatement. Mick ('nervis') is doing an awesome job and has tacked up 1 side in the space of an afternoon. He also found a spare 5 mins to remove my rear sway bar. Geez those things are heavy! Sort of (not really) makes up for the additional weight of these bulletproof sliders...

Seems like a bit of a theme going on in here with sliders on a gen 1, so I thought I better update my thread. Sliders are finished!

I wasnt sure whether to keep the matte black or spray a bit of satin over them, so I washed the Paj to find out. I think I like them matte!

Very happy, 'nervis' did a sensational job. Very professional!
