    Cheap aftermarket NP remote

Hi, my keyless entry remote just died, replaced the batteries and nothing. Is there a aftermarket remote that doesn't cost an arm and a leg? went on Ebay and a oem remote was still going for $250 even though Mitsi's stopped using this remote over a decade ago.

Did a forum search and couldn't find anything useful.

Tightarse answer is wreckers and re-program to your car. Or, chuck your laughing gear around this -

Mine is still working with out fault.

Hmm, might give the wreckers a call on Monday.

I was thinking it may be more worth while getting a blank flip key and getting Mr Minit to cut and clone the transponder.

The shell on my remote hadn't clipped together properly for a while and I'd need to press the buttons several times for it to work. I finally bought a new shell - $5 on Ebay - put the insides of the old one in and works first time, every time now.

If your shell is a bit loose, maybe just try the same thing first, be much cheaper.

The shell to mine is still in decent condition.

I have no idea as to why mine died, cracked out the multimeter and its still getting power to the terminals but its too small to look any deeper into the board.

Got 2 a few years ago from " remotesandkeys.com" . Worked perfectly and fast service and great communication. Would be my first point of call when I need other remotes now.

If you can do wiring yourself, buy a cheap car alarm from ebay and wire it in. I bought one for <$50 which gave me 2 remotes, plus of course the benefits of an alarm.

Looks like the flip key idea is out.

Went to a local Mr Minit, they say they can't do a cut n clone from an ebay because only "their" keys work and their keys are $150 with another $100 for a cut and clone.

A local locksmith can do it but need to "test" the key first but i know the formula, "the computer says no" schtick.

Oh well, it was a good idea while it lasted.

I got 2 remotes delivered from the USA for $50 or less.
There was a link here on the forums.

It was based on a montero or whatever they call it in the US which also works with the AU pajeros.

I did, i thought of having a flip key with a built in remote would be good so i can have a spare key if anything happens to it.

Might at this stage just buy a remote, seen one on ebay for $40.

I paid about $90 for a generic on ebay five years ago. Worked fine. Programmed it myself.
