    SCV replacement

    Hi guys,
My NS has about 230K km's these days and has been running brilliantly until recent surging issues. I've read quite a few posts pointing the SCV. I've ordered a new SCV and it's on its way. Once replaced does it need a relearn or is it just plug and play? I've read conflicting advice in various forum posts.
Hopefully replacing the SCV will fix my surging.
    cheers

    Hi BeeGee ,

did you have this syptoms before the scv replacement ?

I have problem with my pajero 2008.Engine lost power between 2000 - 3000 rpmis it suction control valve error?

mine did this strange engine sound and i taked it off for a cleaning with very good result

    before

    and after cleaning and polishing

    ,
After that , the car was working well, but I was running out of power, which completely changed after doing a relearn of the scv valve , I struggled 6 months to find the problem , and just a relearn change the car

2 different kinds of SCV for the 4m41, one is longer one is shorter, you need to give them your vin number when ordering. I heard the internet ones were knock offs and were dodgy, I went with a genuine one and it cost me a lot more. didnt change it myself I got it done when being serviced. from memory it was around $400-500.

Quick update. Replace the SCV and all the surging has gone.

This was the part that I purchased:

              Running sweet again now.

You must have bought the last one, the link does not show anything. Any way you can leave some other helpful info/link?

Hey mate, I replaced my scv a few months ago ebay special lol but been going really great, I have not had the re-learn done and power seems a bit better no worse anyway but I have not had the relearn done as yet maybe in the future mine is a 2008 NS Auto paj also about 238,000klms have you noticed fuel usage slightly higher if you have not had the re learn

The one I purchased from ebay was a genuine Denso part. I ended up getting a diesel specialist to fit the part and do the relearn. I removed my second battery before hand to make it easier to get to as it is right in the way.

What is this relearn business when replacing the SCV?

Son replaced SCV in his ML about 4 years ago with virtually no experience and only my direction over the phone, with me having never seen one before and relying on his photos to show what it looked like so I could tell him what and how to replace.

Then, he replaced that one about 6 months ago.

                        Have never done a relearn.

What are we missing out on?

Quoting from another website regarding the relearn:
"The engine-ECU learns the relation between the suction control valve (linear solenoid valve) of the supply pump drive current and the fuel injection volume. The learning value is calculated from the suction control valve drive current and the rail pressure sensor output voltage. When the suction control valve or supply pump is replaced, therefore, this learning must be executed. Re-learning is executed when the engine is idling after the learning value in the engine-ECU has been reset."
