Think it will be easier for me if I just take orders once it's released rather than building up a list separately.

The harder bit for me is to guess how many to build in the first production release.
Would people rather pre-order, and you get a unit as soon as they're ready?
I'm holding off accepting orders because I don't want people feel disappointed if it takes even longer than I expect. I mean, there's only 7 weeks to Xmas

I am happy either way, if you take pre orders you should take deposits to make sure you are covered cost wise I think.
