After the last offroad trip I noticed everything around/under the front diff breather is covered in oil, see photo (the cap is clean because I cleaned it). I don't see where else it can be from so it must be coming via the breather? What can make it do that?

Maybe pressure build up if the breather was blocked?

I changed diff oil in February, so quite some time ago.
I think I've seen that area dirty before but this time there's definitely more.
I don't know what the opening looks like on the other end inside the diff but I guess some oil indeed can get in there and be pushed out, but I could not find any other reports of this happening...2008 Pajero NS V6. Was the vehicle on flat ground when you changed the oil, or would it have been jacked up? If it wasn't level it could could be overfilled.

I'll try smelling but I'm not sure I can distinguish at all and it's heavily mixed with mud. The engine looks clean though.
MM dealer changed the diff oil so I guess the car was on a hoist.2008 Pajero NS V6. Factory rear diff lock. OME suspension. Ironman underbody protection. Rhino-Rack Pioneer Platform. ASFIR hidden winch mount, Ridge Ryder 12000lbs winch.
