My NX is dirtier than your Shorty and mine is just sitting on my driveway. Wonder how you keep yours so clean for pics. All the best and keep photos rolling.

Car washes are everywhere, and cheap. sit and have a few beers then come back to clean wagon.

it costs me about 60 pula in botswana for a full outside and inside clean.

the hotel I stayed at before crossing into congo washed my car in the morning for free before I even woke up, sometimes its included in the room rate.

I have been approached by heaps of people here in congo so far to wash the car, but am holding off as its raining like mad.

I will also add, botswana was mostly dry with a few water crossings to clean the car and Namibia is going through a drought for the last 5 years or so, so basically no mud or anything. film of dust is the normal.

The most painful bit of a trip is going through and editing photos. so here are a few from Namibia, I found it to be the most amazing place I have ever been, the remoteness, the struggle. the sand.

Proper area to test man and machine.

Drones are amazing: This was about 100kms form puros. the amount the scenery can change here is amazing.

Leaving Puros, and rolling into day 8 out of a shorty with no restock. this would be our last night in the bush on this stint before we could restock. I ended up buying a leg of goat as we had no meat.

And because I love sand dunes. here is the size comparison.

            Thanks mate,

I am using a Mavic pro drone. its about 2 years old now i think.

I have crashed it doing 40kmh into rock in Namibia and replaced a few rotors and flew it 20 minutes later so its a tough unit.

Wow, so insane to have your own vehicle over there with you! I still can’t fathom that! Looks like you’re clocking up the kms!

Do you see (m)any other Pajero/Shoguns over there?

Have the locals been good in general?

Keep the pics coming! So many good ones!!

                  Cheers

Thanks mate, its been a wild ride. I'm working in DRC again so we tried to keep the wagon there but the import costs were way to much. so it snow back in SA, I will do a post on that next.

Do I see many pajeros: yes yes yes in SA and Namibia heaps, way less in congo and zambia though, I was at a set of lights in joburg, 3 gen 4 shorties at the lights!! 3!!! very popular car.

Have the locals been good: as usual, I would say about 99% good with the locals, a few heated moments here and there. more the issue is police and government workers who strictly see white people as a source of money and will treat you as such. once your used to there games it becomes fun if you have time. Coming back into South africa I had the manager telling me they dont do TIP's for foreign cars... okay how have I gotten 3 already? we stare at each other, I dont back down, he eventually says yupp, she will do it. which was funny cause she said she didn't know how??? its a game, play to win.

So I am working in DRC now, so I figured why not just temp import the wagon. anyway, a quote of 4000usd later the car is back in SA. a little rich for my blood. I made it to Joburg in 3 days with border crossings, it wasnt easy, but the ol wagon gets the job done and passes anything like its standing still.

                      Relaxing after packing the wagon:

No photos from the congo side as I was full go go go to make it through the border as early as possible as both congo and zambia take ages.

                      Into Zambia:

Saved this guy from getting run over:

The crossing from Zambia into Bots, the locals say the bridge will be done this year.

Waking up in Botswana to this:

                      Then hitting rain:

                      Rolled over 292000kms!!!

And finally back in Joburg, with a leaking fuel pressuresensor. wagon didnt quit running so that was a win. I jsut replaced the complete rail and sensor yesterday. 2 hours in out and done in the storage unit I leave it in while at work.

I have been slowly working on my blog... but its painfully slow, between the internet and working long hours its taking a bit. but I have some time off coming up.

We should see some more travelling in the next 2 weeks, but in South America, then again in June with the wagon in South africa as I will make a run to Lesotho.

So here are a few photos to keep you occupied while I work my way through this.

I loved Namibia the most, so here is a photo from the remote parts of northern namibia,

And here is some nice animal photos I was able to snap:

I have two more blogs up:

Fuel Calculations   We pull up to the gates of the CKGR and prepare ourselves. We are beyond excited. Proper off road time.  We talk to a local who runs the private camps sites about fuel consumption. I’m not liking the numbers. I sit and crunch numbers while Asareh pays all of our fees.  We […]

Sand….deep sand,   It so bloody soft. We rise and make an amazing breakfast, avo’s and all. Heading north we start hitting this soft sand we were warned about, I drop down to about 10/12 PSI and we carry on, fuel consumption sitting around 25-30L per 100 im starting to worry a bit. Breakfast of […]

Blogs will be rolled out 2 per week starting this week. Ill keep this updated as best I can.

and hopefully in that time I can get some more travelling done.

Not related to Africa but I will also chuck up some Australian outback trips.

Release day, our first wild elephant encounter

Start the car!!! Waking up we sit and enjoy our coffee, Normally we are the lazy campers leaving at 10-11 but to day we have some serious miles to cover, and its soft soft sand. We get rolling and head further north, the sun climbs higher and higher and the sand gets softer […]
