    Exhaust brake

The mitsubishi canter uses the same 2.8 4m40 engine as Pajero does

But it has an exhaust brake

Thinking about getting an exhaust brake and fitting to my Pajero 2.8 auto

    Anyone fitted one?

I think you will find limited benefit with engine braking as yours is an auto but I can't see any reason it would not be doable.

I've driven on of those Canters with exhaust brake and they sounded funny to me.

I say go for it. It wont be any worse for it.
I find mine will run away a bit in 2nd low range when 1st is a little too low on a decent. I could be wrong, but I don't think the auto disconnects on overrun in low range. I'm still running the stock 4.636 diff gears.
