Any pics of the rear door finished?? What did you do for the handle and lock?
Door is done, was rushed sadly, but seems fine. ill snap a photo. no lock anymore its all done via the remote. and the handle is now a piece of wire run out the back you pull down on. simple, easy

Continuing on with the build... more and more electrical. at least its all done now. basically the winch is now on a switch, battery controller switch is in the cab to. I have also wired in usb charging ports and a setup to charge my drone batteries. along with a new stereo.
Inside the tent got lights and 2 usb charging ports.

Engine got its secondary fuel filter reinstalled, and a catch can, along with a full service.
And I found a spacecase for storage in the back for clothing and also acts as a barrier.

Well... I did a thing. well first ill mention I weighed it. it was gonna be sitting at about 2950kg fully loaded with both passengers. and I wasnt to happy with that so out came all the storage setup, the drawers were worth 100kg, and I went back to my old school false floor, it raised the fridge up quite high, but at the same time I gained a massive amount of room due to using all the dead space. even had room for the tred trax inside. I figure if I can get to 2850 I will be very happy.
And as a bonus you can now recline the seats. its win win in every sense. so dont be afraid to start again if required.

What is the GVM for a shortie? Even at 2850kg (which I assume doesn’t include driver/passenger and food/water/clothes/etc) I reckon you might be pushing it.

200kg over fully loaded, with everything. its not crazy. the spare carrier isnt to bad, an extra tyre is heavy, but the bar itself was built very light. plus i removed gear of the car to fit it.

The tare is in correct, that is a base cloth model, my tare is 2100 due to locker leather and the other vrx gear.
if there is one thing I have learned is that there is not a single rig built to travel that is not over weight. well there might be a couple. but they will be pushing it.
My whole thought process is, gvm is based on suspension and brake capacity, now we have a 2660kg gvm and a 750kg unbraked towing, this tell me I can handle braking a load of 3400kg, so the brakes are up to the task.
moving onto suspension, the reason is sag, you sag the ass, it pull weight off the steer wheels and that is where problems start to arise. I have lwb 250kg constant loads and airbags in the rear. with this new setup the wagon is raked massively, I doubt I will actually even require air bags when loaded now.
The small update, car is basically 100% mechanically ready, just waiting on wheel spacers to arrive.
Got an alignment, made sure to load it up first. there are 350kg of bricks at or behind the rear axle. pretty happy with the outcome for next to no pressure in the bags, 5psi maybe just to stop them from rubbing.

Well done, always a relief being able to close the doors for the last time before a trip. Putting your packed vehicle into a container before shipping it overseas must really focus the mind on making sure you have everything. Where are you heading for after making landfall in Mozambique?
