    Evershower

I must admit there is nothing like a good shower whilst camping out bush.
The camper trailer has an ensuite that takes about 10 minutes to erect, then you have to put in mats to stop the wet soil on your feet...you get the idea.

So...I came across this whilst looking at camping porn...evershower.
Distributers of RV Caravan & Marine Waterwise products. Evershower

Well my eyes lit up like that farmer on "Shaun the Sheep" and I had to investigate further.
This shower system ticked a lot of camping boxes.
    1/. Very compact..
2/. Well designed and good quality.
3/. Simple to use...takes 5 minutes to erect
4/. Can be used in a multiple of situations and locations.
    5/. Self supporting structure...

After some time...and some saving...I bought one...they are not cheap...far from it...$345.00 incl free postage from Tentworld.

So why go out and splash $345 on a shower system, that you can get all up for about $150....this was nagging at me for months before my purchase.

The beauty of this...is that it is a compact...a 500x500x150 tough fibreglass rota moulded base, with a shower tent included and a 12v pump/shower head that can be used ANYWHERE.
I can load it in or on the 4wd...plus anywhere in the camper...
When I go 4wd touring...erect this ever shower...boil up 3lts of hot water..put it in the moulded shower base and I have recycled shower on 12v.
When I am finished..undo the plug...water drains out...no muddy feet.
Also I can use it as a change room whilst 4wd touring..
The shower tent part curves out away from the base and as such there is a heaps of shoulder room which is surprising. Plus there are built in pockets and hooks for those bath room items ....with a push..2 adults could use it...2 kids will fit in it perfectly.
Most importantly...the other half likes it...

How do you go getting changed though ? You obviously can't take clothes in there so what happens when you've dried off and where do you store the towel ?

Not trying to be negative but wanting to understand how this works.

I had exactly the same thoughts...no enough room to swing a cat...where to put towels...clothes etc.
I had these doubts for weeks...looked at the Quikpitch come Drifta shower change room setup as well..but they want over $500..
Eventhough the base is only 500x500...the shower tent bows / tapers outwards and gives you quite a but of room to manoeuvre yourself around quiet a bit.
The shower tent section clamps onto the inside of the side poles in 3 strategic places and are very secure...so you can hang towels and clothing in these spaces...at the end of the shower reach out from the opening and get the clothing.
Then if you want you can hang a shower bag from the hooks that are located inside the tent...or a towel if need be...the hooks are located at 3 different levels inside the tent...with one hook 2 mtrs above the tub..well out of the way of shower splash.
Plus...with the roof cover section unzipped and taken off, you can hand towels etc from the 4 upper roof poles that connect to the side poles..it takes about 1 to 1.5kg of weight hanging from it.
I was quiet surprised in the amount of room in this thing considering you are standing in a 500x500 square rota moulded tub...as I was saying...with a squeeze...two adults could fit..with the outward tapering of the side poles, the body and shoulder room increase significantly...nearly as much as a 1000x1000 shower cubical in width and is over well 2 meters tall..that is a big call I know...but this is the Tardis of shower tents...
I am heading off for remote bush camping in 10 weeks, 3 days and 4 &3/4 hours...if Queensland opens its' borders!!!! and I will do a write up of the cons & pros.

One of the reasons I bought one is that I can set it up inside my Avan camper.
Yes the getting changed bit is a problem but it’s the same as a pop up shower tent. Either do the pants on under the towel thing or have it set up behind an awning wall or next to a tent door.

At least inside the van you're out of the wind. I wonder how these things go in a decent breeze ?

You could easily replicate their system by standing in a floppy bucket inside a standard shower tent and putting the hot water and pump in there as well but not all of the water would end up in the bucket like it does in this one.

My question with that is how to rinse down when all the water is soapy ?

There's a always a compromise when camping or vanning.

They say on their web site that if you are showering in water re-use mode you might need to change the water between soaping and rinsing. Which means you have to get rid of your grey water twice. If I'm bushwalking I don't wash/shower unless I fall into a creek. If I'm car-camping with my camper-trailer, then, even though it has a hot water system and external shower hose, I generally get by with just a hot flannel "bird bath". Uses about 2 litres of water including rinse. I do it every month whether I need to or not

The simple solution might be soap up with flannel and rinse off with shower?

When I did German at High School, the flannel/washer only bathing was a "katzenwashe"- cat wash. At least in those days it was (apparently) most washes for Germans. Like Pwoffey, anything more would be much less frequent.

I use a bucket with warm water. Have the pump in there for the first wash, turn off to soap, use the pump in the base if needed, then pump back into the bucket to rinse off. It’s easier than it sounds

I had the tent up on an absolute coastal spot in a breeze when I didn’t put up my awning and it stayed solid but it did have water in the base. I hate the pop up tents which blow in on the sides at any breeze

We had a shake down of the camper for a up coming trip...hopefully...to Nth West QLD in 6 weeks ..if Covid doesn't run rapid through NSW and the cockroaches close the NSW / QLD border....again..
                    Anyways..
We took the Evershower and gave it a run..
                    Not bad...not bad at all..
I have enclosed a couple of photos giving you the aspect of it's physical size against the camper...
The white cover can zip off, so you are open to the elements above your head...the roof stays held 2 beach towels with no problem.
There is a photo showing inside the shower with the yellow 12v power switch that works the self prime pump that sits inside the floor...perspective of the space at waist height
When you fill the tub up..the 3 Ltrs of water will suffice...
I found it is best to fill up with 3 ltrs with quite hot water..and put the pump on and allow it to circulate for about 1 minute...this circulation does cool off the water...then top up with another 1ltr of hot water..because I like a bloody hot shower...
The other half likes a warm shower...so she doesn't add the extra ltr of water.
There is plenty of room to soap yourself up and move around...and yes the soapy water will get circulated..I live with it...I'm camping..
The small changes I am making for its future usage.:
1/...A rubber mat for the tub to sit on so it sits above the ground..so when emptying the basin ..the bottom doesn't get dirty and muddy.
2/. place a rubber mat outside the shower so your feet do not get dirty when you step out of the enclosed basin.
Cons...1/. The unit need to be placed on a flat surface..quite obvious..
2/. $345.00 it's not cheap, but compared to...Quickpitch / Drifta $450+. Kick Ass $249.00.. you still have to purchase pump and basin
Good...1/. It is light weight, very easy to set up & pack away and highly manoeuvrable...
2/.Packs up into a small case size..
3/.Use it for camping in any situation plus take it along for 4wd touring.
4/. If you have littlie ones..the moulded basin doubles up as a bath..
5/.Most importantly...She loves it..4 girly thumbs up!..say's it all, really

                    Overall..4 out of 5

Yes. Or you can just take from a bucket with no recirc - the pump is easily taken out of the base unit.

I have just added some barefeet anti slip tape to the base as it can get a bit sloppy with soap.

We recycle our shower water and have always had a probem collecting it all, even when using a collapsible tub to stand in. We usually set this up inside our joolca shower tent and I've tried jury rigging shower curtains etc to try and collect all of the water, but it always turned out to be more of a pain in the ass than it's worth. We heated the water via a Glind system, which is also a pain to use, as you need the engine running.

Finally I bit the bullet and bought the evershower, the first thing i did was ditched the piece of crap bilge pump it comes with and I now use my 11lpm shurlfo pump that I've set up in an old ARB compressor case so it's portable and compact. I've added a 40 micron mesh filter to that and use a stocking filter over the intake as well. I also bought a cheap ebay gas hotwater system that seems to work ok, it's called a devanti and cost me $150 bucks.

Now we can shower for as long as we like on 3 or 4 litres of water, which is a big bonus when on desert trips with a severe lack of water. I'm yet to test how the devanti unit performs in the wild with recycled hot water, but I'm heading off to Dirk Hartog Island at the end of august, so will test it then.
I've seen a few comments on various forums about recycling the dirty water, but I see it as no different to having a bath and we used to share the bath water back in the day The 40 Micron and stocking filter catch any large particles and I throw a bit of chlorine through the pump every now and then.

The evershower tent is an expensive solution to a problem thats bugged me for ages, but it does the job. We set up a Joolca double ensuite next to it if we are camped near others, other wise out comes the mankini and we let it all hang out!
