    Lifespan of oxy sensor

    Howdy,

Do oxygen sensors have a use by date? Got an increase in fuel consumption and was wondering if this might have something to do with it? What do you think? How would you tell?

Generally a good idea to replace them every 80-100k kms. They are a service item just like spark plugs.

I have been told 100,000km, i had mine checked at last service.
Had same problem, but is was spark plugs and leads.

Was told not to use ethonal supplemented fuel as it burns hotter. It destroys your plugs apparently.

Never changed these in any cars I've had. Maybe I should have.

Are they a standard availible from auto parts stores type item, or exhaust or mitsi specific? Are they expensive?

You will probably pay around $100-$120 at auto parts stores but you can get a 4 wire universal O2 sensor on eBay for $50 delivered out of vic.
