You can try to find Heater Control valve to se if it's working.

This valve control Hot and Cold water entering the heater core. When you set it on hot, valve should let hot water into heater core....

Yes you can pull the bulbs but Pajero have dash lights that will stay on.

I think it's better to unplug door swtches so that car can "think" that doors are closed and door lights will not stay on....
