The cambelt ( not critical for the 12v V6 but the other V6's are interference engines ) and crankbolt. See my signature

so other than the crank bolt snapping thats it. that seems like a simple thing to fix. might as well do the timing belt at the same time.

      Cheers

        jip. the main things are

        - crank bolt
        - timing belt ( do the waterpump while you are in there )
        - replace thermostat and radiator cap with original
        - make sure viscous fan works

Those engines are bullet proof. If you have time, go through my build thread in my signature. Almost every aspect of that engine was discussed in there while I was rebuilding it.

Dunno about being bulletproof as they run the same 3 ltr as the Paj. Have a tendency to crack/blow head gaskets once the klms get up.

had a quick skim through your project thread 4ePikanini, interesting stuff. hopefully the one im looking at doesn't have a motor that has had as hard a life as yours did.

but by looking through most of the photo, most of the mechanics of these seem to be similar to most other jap cars of the same vintage.

Out of curiosity, are there factory workshop manual lieing around on the internet somewhere for these cars? obviously a triton one is what im looking for but if the pajero is practically the same engine, driveline etc then even that would be sweet.

get a genuine mitsubishi thermostat from a tr-ts 2.6L magna. it has a large hole for more flow and opens at 82 degrees instead of 88. really helps the engine on hot summer days.
make sure the radiator is cleaned by a radiator place. unfortunately they are smaller than a pajero one and will struggle in the heat if not clean (especially if it has a/c)

I have a 1991 MH 3 litre v6 4x4 duel cab triton and it has done 357k but still runs well, I wanted a toyota for years, but the oppertunity to buy the triton was to good to pass up, and now I have become a fan of the triton, I would highly recomend buying one, just choose carefully
