Garmin RV 775 MT-S GPS and Hema GPS's

I am considering a GPS upgrade and also want to add a reverse camera without cluttering the dash too much.

Has anyone tried the Garmin 775 with the Hema map and reverse camera and compared it to the various Hema offerings for general touring and offroad.

    thanks for any tips.

    Hi wanderay.

Did you get that Garmin RV 775 MT-S unit?

    Feedback?

      Yep,
All working well, including the rearview camera which I built into a metal box attached with magnets so I can move it from car to trailer.

GPS (RV 770) is very good, nice clear screen, some new features over our old one.

I did not get the Hema map because we have that on tablet but have bought the Oztopo map for more detailed off road info, haven't used Oztopo much yet.

      Happy to answer any questions,

      Ray

I am keen on the Garmin RV 775 MT-S for two reasons - the ease of the wireless camera installation and the Hema maps.

It would be great fun following progress along a defined route on one of our sand islands.

The Hema maps are listed as 150k. Are these really suitable or is a higher resolution required?

I'm also wondering if the Garmin wireless cameras can connect via Wi-Fi to an Android or iOS device?

The rear view camera works well but I think it is not quite as sharp as the Newer built-in Pajero reversing cameras. I have wired its power cable to the number plate light power so I power the camera by turning on the parking lights. We don't drive at night much and when we do we just turn the camera off at the GPS.

The Hema option (775) is quite expensive and I was told it was not better than the apple/android app which we already have.
