G'day everyone just need some advice re getting either a yellow or red top Optima battery to be used as a starter battery for my 2015 NX Pajero. The original OEM battery lasted 12 months & then got a Marshall battery with (from memory) about 735 CCA & now its stuffed after less than 3 years of usage. No bush bashing & only light usage towing a caravan. So up for a new battery & thinking of the Optima brand, however looking at the American reviews they all recon the Optima are now crap because their now made in Mexico. So any recommendations for the Optima or another brand battery

I have found Delcor a good brand with the original fitted to my MG TF replica dying in its eight year of service. After buying Supercharge for many years and the last one only lasting until the end of its warranty I tracked down and bought a Delcor for my PB. Only time will tell how long it lasts.2012 PB Challenger 4x2 auto

I've used / use Optima batteries in my previous and current 4wds with one as a starter and one as auxiliary. Since I started using them in 2004 I have never had one fail. I have run them flat, had them in the snow, the desert, on corrugations. I can't recommend them highly enough.

I don't have any information to offer on Optima Batteries, however I will share my experience with my current Batteries.
I currently have a Bosch S5 Mega Power Silver (BOSCH 125D31L 760 CCA) [purchased for $315] as a cranking battery and a Delkor HDC27 [purchased for $250] as a deep cycle (under the bonnet).
I went the Delkor HDC27 as it has full warranty for under bonnet installations. This is a deep cycle battery, should not be used for cranking. They are also reportedly a great brand of battery. The batteries are standard in Kia, Toyota, Honda and more. They're a maintenance free battery too.
I have only had the Delkor for a month so I can't tell you it's good, or bad yet.
My Bosch was bought in a semi rush. My battery died a few days before we went away for a week. In the research I could do in the time that I had was limited for a truely informed decision.
It's a small battery for it's capacity (94AH), 760CCA is also great. They claim to have 30% more cold starting power and lifespan. The Bosch has been in the car for 2 years, it's going strong and I have not noticed any drop in CCA's from it. Good battery IMHO
Maintenance is important, even if all you can do is charge it from the gridNW GL. DiD Auto with 265/75 St Maxx on 17" Alloys, Factory Steel bullbar

Asking about batteries, tyres. oils, winches etc. etc....is a right royal pain. Doesnt matter what someone suggests..someone will have had a bad experience. The tens of millions of batteries made every year means a certain percentage will fail.
Whatever you choose...buy local and make sure the warranty is worth the paper its written on! Prices vary greatly between shops as well.Dicko. FNQ

I have had 3 Century Overlander batteries in the Paj since the OEM battery failed. None of the 3 have survived more than 2 years. I keep them well maintained and charged, but I suspect the billions of corrugations I have gone over haven't helped. I only have one battery in the Paj, so it has to work reliably, and from my experience the Century doesn't cut it. A sample of 3 batteries for just one user is not anything to go by, but it's enough for me when I'm the one. Anyway, for my latest battery I got something a bit different: a Hardcore commercial (ie truck) battery, sealed, silver/calcium lead, 700 CCA nominal (tests at 740 CCA). It's a HCC27LSC model, size equivalent to a N70ZZ. I've only had it for a few months and just for one extended trip, to the Victorian High country. All good so far, but not so many corrugations in the VHC to test it on. I'll be doing an extended central Australian tour later this year where there will be much more corrugated and lengthy tracks so I'll see how it goes.BY13/MY14 Pajero NW GLX Auto, Cooper ST Maxx, factory towbar, Drifta drawers, SmartBar, Airtec snorkel, Koni Raid 90 front and 88 rear shocks with KIngs 34-HD springs front, 35-EHD rear, Brown Davis i/c, sump and transmission bash plates, Piranha diff breathers, Fuel Manager pre-filter, LRA 81L auxiliary fuel tank, Piranha steel battery tray, Sherpa 9500 lb winch, HPD catch can, LockUp Mate, Kaon cargo barrier, Harrop front e-locker, DBA T3 rotors and Xtreme pads, Mark's 4WD reduction gears
