High Pressure steering hose - reservoir to rack

    Hi,
Got a report back on my NM 2001 that the power steering hose is leaking - reservoir to rack

Got a quote from Mitsubishi for a port - $600 and have rung a few places to get quotes but no one is able to source a similar part for cheaper.

Has anyone got a part from Pirtek etc?

    Thanks.

It wouldn’t hurt to try a hydraulic specialist (or steering specialist) as they may be able to help you – and may not, of course. Quite often they can utilise the old fittings on the existing hose or source a new one that will fit. They are heaps cheaper than places like Mitsubishi dealers.

    Cheers

Would reservoir to rack be high pressure?
I would have though anything on reservoir side was low pressure?

Thanks for the help, the description of the hose is going off what Mitsubishi service have listed for the part. I will try a hydraulic specialist thanks for your help.

Judging by the description "resevoir to rack" definitely indicates a return line - ie low pressure hydraulic hose. If it was "pump to rack" then yes that would be a pressure line.

I had my high pressure PS hose replaced by Australian CV Joints and Power Steering - Slacks Creek. Brisbane South side. Was minor oil weep at one of the joins.
Hose is a 2 piece and runs from pump to power steering rack, but looks like it comes from the reservoir.
They remove and the place next door makes up a new hose and the Aust CV refit.
I think was about $250 to $300 all up.Parts and labour.
Only issue was when I checked the Paj before paying I found the hose up against the battery tray and
a clamp not connected. Spilled oil everywhere. Was not good attention to detail.
They did fix it up and clean it up but when I got home I found the hose runs near the bottom cross bar, the metal tube of the hose was hard up against metal. So I had to loosen all clamps and locate the hose so not rubbing against anything. Risk is metal on metal, or rubber HP hose on metal battery tray, after 6 months I could have a burst hose again.
So yes they can do the work, but make sure you check everything before you pay and leave.
Owner/Partner manager was good and did his best to make good.
Hope this helps you or anyone in Brisbane who needs the HP power steer hose replaced.

Could also look at online genuine parts companies. Many on here have used partsouq.com

Based in middle east with fairly quick shipping to Aus normally around a week. Bought parts through them a few times and have found prices to be around half from here in Aus. Go to their website, put in your vin and brings up full parts with diagrams and part numbers etc

Another is amayama.com you can put the part number in and it'll give you a couple of options normally sourcing from different countries.
