    Electrical pump sound???

Not sure if it's normal or not, but getting an electric motor/pump sound when accelerating and decelerating. Audible at low speeds (20km/hr). The sound is similar to an electric arial going up and down.
Never had it in the NP but the NX is auto and has a lot more electronics (no DPF).
    Vehicle runs fine.

If it is a whistle type sound then that is your VGT turbo.

Sounds like the small electric motor on the brake master cylinder running. Could be the accumulator not holding pressure.

If it is for your sake I hope you are still under warranty.

Don't leave it long to get HBB brake unit checked out. Soon after showing symptoms it will fail. Most likely cause is a worn electrical motor communtator. Can't buy a replacement so it must either be repaired or whole HBB unit replaced ($$$). I would not accept a second hand unit as its condition is unknown.

Not necessarily the motor. Ours was the accumulator. Lucky we kept the old unit that was by passing when we had the new complete unit replaced. Still have it in the shed.

I get that sound (2015 NX). Think it's always done it but have no idea what it is.

It's perfectly normal for the brake accumulator pump to run periodically, including at startup and after braking. It sounds like a small fridge compressor. Unless it's running constantly or is very loud its nothing to worry about.

                      Thats the sound.
Never noticed it in the NP... Different braking system?

If your NP had ABS then it is essentially the same. However I do notice the sound a little bit more on my NX than I did on my NP. I put that down to the extra racket at idle from the NP.
