    Intermittent ABS light.

Recently the ABS light has been remaining on after starting the engine - not on every start but randomly. Stopping and then restarting the engine has usually re-set the light.
More recently the light has come on a few times whilst driving and mostly re-sets with an engine shutdown/restart.
Now, my query is, is this likely to be a single sensor (assuming there are individual sensors) or the relevant ECU? If the former, are they a relatively simple replacement?
Vehicle is a '99 NL GLS.

I have the same problem with my gen2, I've never worried about it, just goes with the flashing green lights on the dash. Breaks still work but without the use of ABS when the light is on, all works fine when it's off.

There is a pendulum sensor near the handbrake that eventually becomes off centre and the ecu logs a fault and disables the ABS.

      My gen2 did this.

If you open the sensor ( be careful it is full of some sort of oil to dampen the pendulum sensitivity) and gently bend it back to the centre the fault will go away.

If yours has done the same thing this might fix it

Did your fault with the pendulum result in a steady light on or was it intermittent like mine?

          Intermittent.
Mostly it would be off when started but would randomly turn on, sometimes when braking, sometimes just driving up a hill... It was very unpredictable.
Pretty much always cleared by restarting the engine.

Found what you're talking about - the "G" sensor.
