If you park the car on a flat level surface then measure the distance between the centre of the wheel hub and the underside of the wheel arch in a vertical line, do this for each wheel and post the measurements, then we can assist.

I'm looking at suspension myself at the moment, and was told by ARB that their springs are longer on the passenger side than the driver's side, which is the opposite of what most people would normally expect.

Perhaps Dobinson have done the same? I recently swapped a pair of Kings specials for some OMEs, and rear heights did not change - with both sets, the passenger side rear is 15mm higher than the driver's side. Is this the difference you are seeing?

                Don't worry about photos.
What are the measurements on all 4 wheels?
57cm/570mm front or back, left or right?

So, if they're both the same, it's all good and what you are seeing is an optical illusion. I also fitted the dobinsons 40mm lift springs on my NS (which are the same), and have been very happy with them for 25k now. I did find, initially, that the ride was a bit more wallowy on cornering, but when I changed the road tyres to BFG KO2 All terrains, it handled exactly the same as it did previously. A bit more road noise, undeniably, and that seems to be getting worse as the tyres wear. (Just turn up the music).

The car came nice and level when I first fitted the springs (and shocks), and I got an actual 45mm lift front and 51/43 at the rear. The difference between expected and actual just due to the wear on the original factory springs.

570mm is most likely too high. Factory spec is 500mm to 505mm and normally you can only legally lift about 35-45mm to around 540-550mm because you need to retain 2/3rds of the original droop travel, so you need about 60mm. If youjack up a front wheel off the ground by the body and measure the centre hub to under wheel arch then minus your 570mm you will most likely find you only have 35-45mm of travel depending on which struts are fitted, some struts are longer than others!

Apart from being illegal, if your front suspension is too high then it loads up your CV joints and you can run out of camber adjustment for wheel alignment. More critical is the lack of front wheel travel means on road your ABS and Traction Control systems will operate much earlier and off road your Traction Control will be working very hard. It is a very common problem that suspension resellers and installer recommend front coils that are too high and stiff and rear coils that are too low and soft.
