What to update to? NT/NW VS PB/PC

    Hi all,

Will be updating the NP over the next few weeks, and am after some pros/cons of a couple options. We have a large 75ltr fridge, 2 kits seats with a 3rd planned at some stage, so boot space and width of the back seat are important. We also tow a 1700kg ski boat.

Budget is about 35k including mods (allowing 10k for mods).

I initially thought NT, but it seems that there are more bar options etc for the NW. Any other reasons to look at NW over the NT?

Then at some stupid hour this morning I thought of the Challenger. A quick carsales search and I was surprised. Very low ks and under $20k!! They have a longer boot but not sure about the width of the back seat? Also know nothing about the build quality and longevity of the 2.5td.

So basically looking for pros cons and any advice!

    Cheers
    Pete

    Hi Pete,

Bang for your buck Challenger. If well maintained then there are plenty around with less than 200k on the clock since they were released in 2009.
3 kids seats - Pajero tight- Challenger no way! Rear seat width in about 75mm narrower.
1700kg ski boat -Pajero easy - Challenger will do it but you wil have to "manage" the auto trans and it will not do it as easy as the Pajero.
Moving from a Pajero to a Challenger can be an issue if you realy love the Pajero driving experience as they drive and feel completely different.

Hi Pete, we have just been through the same decision point and ended up with the Challenger. We started out with the Pajero in mind but the Chalengers value ended up winning out in the end.

We picked up a 2014 Challenger with 50,000k for a steal I reckon, in mint condition and still under warranty so that was a real plus.

So far we have towed our camper to the Flinders and did Skytrek. I like the old style feel of the car, it sort of truck like and I like that. My wife just loves driving it which is always a bonus.

Be sure that you are looking at 4x4 models in the sub $20k price range. There are 4x2's that look the same and are naturally much cheaper. I heard of one person buying one only to find out after purchase that it wasn't a fourby after all.

Either way both the Challenger and Pajero are the best choices for value and capability IMO

      Cheers!
