I think the passenger side as I think there is an advantage in being able to set up "kerb side".

I have the 2.5. X 2.5 on our NT and its just right. I don't think you could go any longer and still safely and securely mount it. 2.5m out from the vehicle has been just right for our use and it's what I would suggest.

Careful with the 2.5x2.5. It over hangs the roof rail at the front by 500mm. If you do any tracks with over hanging branches or over grown, it will get bent or ripped half off

                  IMO....for what its worth......

2.5 meter length is the go for a paj.

I had a 2.0M length and I found it just a bit too small if you are using it for camping shelter.
I upgraded to a 3.0 meter out, and although its a little more cumbersome, its awesome for camping shelter. Add a front and possibly a side wall and the world is your oyster.

I agree with NAB. I've had some vegetation in there, but no issues with a 2.5m length.

MY16 NX GLX5 with just a few bits added. MY14 D-max spacecab, also with a few bits added.

I have seen the longer ones damaged by overhanging vergetation too, so made sure I bought one that fitted snugly alongside my roofrack, 2m long by 2.5 out from the car. 3x2.5 would have been great if I never drove down narrow tracks, but I do, often, so the smaller one is a good compromise.

It's also not a bad idea to buy one with the flyscreen sides that drop down as well to keep the mozzies and blowies out.

We went for the 2 m length by 2.5 m out awning for robustness when off-roading through overgrown trails.

It's a compromise, but the shorter length for what we use our Paj for means that it's well secured.

Watch your total vehicle height increase too if you are already lifted and it's relevant for you. Ours (Kings) added another ~1cm total off standard cross bars, but we are still OK for 2.1 m car parks (thank goodness).
