I have one. What info do you want to know?

It does what is intended - it receives, it transmits and its all good.

Mines been pounded over half the continent without an issue.

What I dont like about the unidens is the stupid bloody call button that we all hit accidentally at times then have to listen to the ridiculous tone it produces.

I went the 5060 this time around. Its a bare bones, hand held mic control unit. I've had top of the wazza's before, and personally I never used their features. So I just couldn't see the reason for going to a higher model. At the end of the day, all I need it to do is to transmit and receive. And that it does.

Some people complain about the level of audio out of the speaker mic. It also has a speaker in the unit that works concurrently, but if you bury this under the dash, you may lose that audio. If so, just put an extension speaker on it. I have done that recently and it does make a difference.

I’ve got the UH8080 and I think it has a few more bells and whistles to the UH5060, but as Sharkcaver is saying, I never use all the extra thingos – I receive, I transmit and that’s about it. It has ‘BearCat Scanning Technology’ that I don’t have a clue how to use or know what I’d use it for.

The speak in the microphone is sort of ok and I’ve always intended adding an extension speaker, but it’s one of those ‘gunna’ jobs. The unit itself is mounted down under the centre console where it can’t be seen, so if it has a speak down there it would be useless.

I usually leave it on Channel 29 driving around here (the truckie channel) and it seems to pick up blokes a fair way away – I’ve just got the normal ‘flat-country’ aerial. Overall it seems a good unit and I would recommend it, or if there is a model that is virtually the same without all the extra wizardry, I’d say it would be fine as well.

            Cheers
