Weight distribution hitch to fit NX

I want to fit a WDH that does not reduce the clearance of the rear door.
It is for a trailer9(toyhauler), 2000kg total mechanical brakes.

Any suggestions? I do like the style that bolt under the tow ball somi can use the existencing hitch, i figure I only need something rated to 250kg.

    Thanks in advance

I use the Haymen Reece WDH bars and McHitch auto coupler and can open the back door almost 90degrees, i hit the stone gaurd on the front of our van but clear all hitches etc.
I also have the spare wheel lift.

I've got one of these. It's he medium grade up to 272kg. It's a bit of overkill for my 15'6" van but the smaller WDH only goes to 130kg. My van ball weight is about 160KG.

I've also got the longer shank to get the ball back to the right height for the van to be level. And like pusspuss, I've also got the lift bracket on the spare wheel. The door now clears everything no problems.

pusspuss, a bit off topic but I currently tow with an NX an approx. 2.5t van when fully loaded. I'm would like to upgrade to a 19' 2.8t ATM van with an (empty) ball weight of 175kgs. When loaded for a trip, obviously the ball weight will exceed the 180kgs max. nominated by MMA for towing trailers over 2.5t. Your rig looks similar to what I'm thinking of and I'm wondering about your towing experiences and if you have encounted people who have kept to or gone above the Mitsubishi ball weight limit. I realise there may be warranty and insurance issues but I see lots of Pajeros on the road towing big vans which must be over 2.5t and exceed 180kg ball weight. I have spoken to few in caravan parks, they usually don't know or don't care what their ball weight is and say their rig tows fine. One bloke on the caravan forum claimed his bw was over 400kgs!

Like most things beyond recommended or legislated limits it probably will "tow fine" until you encounter a situation that is anything but fine towing conditions.

Thanks for that - I wasn't sure if the McHitch would fix the door opening problem.

Honey - I'm just going down the street for a while to fix up the towbar.

Another vote for the McHitch Auto Coupler.

Clears the door and is a great, easy to use hitch.

In answer to your question, as has been said. All good and fine until you need to make an insurance claim! I'm sure our ball weight went over 250kg on some occasions. Our van was 2500kg ATM. The Paj towed it very well, but it was too close to the limit and we didn't want to risk any potential lawsuits!

But the Paj is a fine tow vehicle. Just a bit restricting having the ball weight drop to 180kg at 2501kg ATM.

Does't matter now, we have a heavier van and another tow vehicle, but still have the Paj too for other duties!

By the way, we used the HR medium classic WDH and bars with the Paj and all good.

                    Cheers,
                    Sally

                      Crazy stuff!

"Don't care what their ball weight is?" Shouldn't be towing! That is a terrible and dangerous attitude. He will care if he has a bad accident and is prosecuted after someone is hurt.

                      Can't believe some folk's attitude!

A ball weight scale can be bought for $50! Or you can check it at your local weighbridge, where you should check your loaded weight and make sure you've within your ATM.

                      Cheers,

A few years ago we camped at Dalhousie springs and a guy pulled in with a Pajero club sticker so i went over to say G'day. He had an NT with std towbar and he had hired an Ultimate camper (listed empty ball weight of 45kg) and his towbar tongue was bent down about 10-15 degrees just from driving up the Oodnadatta track I think he was unlucky to have a dud tongue but geez 400kg plus probably all his crap in the back of the car that's some serious strain. It doesn't take much to get the std Paj springs to sit on the bump stops so they don't look like they are dragging their bum.

Dad's caravan is listed at 1150kg, he stuck it over the weighbridge at the servo last week on his pilgrimage nth to get warm and it came in at 1600kg and that's with no water in the tank so it doesn't take much to get the weight up.

I can remember the inlaws used to migrate to gold coast for 3 months, Commordore was tucking rubber before the van was hooked up, enough tools on board to rebuild the car if needed, enough clothes in wardrobe for all seasons and enough food because the groceries were too expensive in QLD.
It is not only what we tow but all the toys and necessaties we feel we need to travel.
How often have you seen the 4WD with the big van, tinnie on the roof or 2 kyaks, bikes, Fuel cans, generator boxes, on and on.
