    6 B&S cable source?

    Hi all,

Just wondering where you get your 6 B&S twin core cable from? I found a local place, but they will only sell it in 50m lengths.

Other than that I found this but not sure what the quality of the insulation is like. Should be fine, but just interested in other options/opinions.

Will be running under the car, any hints on the best path? I haven't had a look under there yet.

    Cheers
    Pete

Give Jaycar a call, or try an auto electrical place.

Jaycar don't have anything. I rang an auto electrical place, and they sell it in 50m lengths.

Tycab cable is good, we sell a lot of it at work. We only have up to 8 B&S, not 6.

The ebay link is for tycab cable, arguably the best around. So I don't think there needs to be any concern re quality of the sheath.

Have you looked into using a body earth instead of twin. Not wanting to start a debate, but I have done this on 2 Paj's now and I really can not see the need for using twin cable.

And if you want to go a step up, seeing this will have some outside environment contact, tinned wire is the best. You can get around that by sealing the edge between the lug and the cable sheath well. Self amalgamating tape and or glue lined heat shrink works well to do that.

Sweet, sounds good then. I always use glue lined heatshrink so all sorted there. I could use body earth, not really fused either way (used body earth for over 1500W of audio amps). Just liked the neatness of the sheathed twin core. Saves using the annoying plastic sleeving.

How much cable did you guys use roughly? I'm thinking 6m should be enough, but I have run short before! If 6m is enough I can buy a single 12m roll (to do Dad's car and mine). Otherwise it will need to be two 10m rolls.
