    '13 triton clutch

n bought a 2013 triton Glxr diesel manual in October last year. 5 months and 11000km later the clutch let go. The dealer reckons he's never seen a clutch like it and have quoted $2500 for a new clutch kit, including flywheel as it probably won't be covered by warranty. Really, I'm just wondering if anyone else had had a similar issue? And is there an alternative to putting a dual mass flywheel back in with an identical replacement clutch. By the way, the Ute doesn't tow anything and roughly 7000 of its 11000 km was two trips on the highway between Brisbane and Melbourne. Hardly a stressful trip. Interested to hear opinions or experiences. Cheers

I'd be writing to MMA as 11000km out of a clutch is far from acceptable, especially if there's plenty of meat left on the friction plate.

Which component has failed exactly? It could be a faulty part from factory.

When I replaced the clutch in my PJ Ranger, I opted for an Exeedy SMF conversion as the DMF was not up to the job, especially when towing. The outcome was great and I had so much more confidence in the clutch. There was a slight increase in vibration/noise due to the fact there is no DMF to dampen the driveline, but this was a small trade off.

Cheers Old Jack. I'll have a proper look a bit later. As for the friction plate, it's my understanding that everything is stuffed. Apparently it's been slipping for quite a while. The bash plate is dented apparently and they are using this as evidence that the car has been off road and therefore abused. The dented bash plate is from running over a kangaroo on the Newell hwy one night! Time will tell I guess
