    Ridge Ryder vs Tigerz11 Hercules

    Guys,

I still can't decide which one to choose between the Ridge Ryder or Tigerz11 Hercules.

I just read the review for the Tigerz11 Hercules which is the old model of the Tigerz11 as the new is Grande, have problem with the solenoid box. They reckon the box is not water tight enough so can build up a moisture and stuffed up the electrical bits of the winch. I even heard it caught on fire.

Apparently the new model, Grande, is the good one. But it cost a lot more expensive.

I also read that Ridge Ryder winch is just different brand of Ironman winch. I'm not 100% sure about this though as I did try to compare between them from the pictures and the body don't look the same.

Please me give some more advice which winch to get between those two. I need to get the winch ASAP before I end up use the money for something else.

    Thanks very much guys.

    Cheers.

I see ridge Ryder winch is now on sale at supercheap auto, $574 for 12000lbs version inc. dynema rope? Reliable warranty, etc. Local pickup...

Tigerz11.. I bought side awning and sand anchor from them. Ver unhappy with both items. Anchor sold on eBay, awning I had to literary re engineer and re assemble.
I am not touching Tigerz again.

Btw, ridge Ryder side awning 2.5m x 2.0m is on sale at the moment $199.

        Thanks Guys.....

I read the specs between those two Ridge Ryder seems has better motor than Tigerz. The clutch ratio for Ridge Ryder seems a lot faster than Tigerz11 Hercules.
Also being purchased locally from Supercheap Auto seems a lot easier to deal with if there is someting wrong with it instead have dealing with on line purchase with Tigerz11 dealer in Melbourne.
I think I'm leaning towards the Ridge Ryder now.

Also I bout Ridge Ryder awning from Supercheap a while ago and been very happy with it. Been using it many many times and still looking good and no problem at all.

Ridge Ryder seems a good cheap 4WD accessories product and dealing with Supercheap is quite reasonable easy too as I know some of the people there.

        Thanks heaps Guys.

        Cheers.

For $59 you can replace any winch solenoid with a contactor type setup. Fully waterproof, wires into existing cabling and fits neat into the control box. You can get them off eBay.

Aldi is putting one on special for 400 bucks 4300kg
Not too bad if you only want a winch for the peace of mind.
Mine is a model they had on sale a few years ago and is still going strong.

My brother and i both run the 9500lb ridge ryder winches. Never had any issues - but we did silicon the control unit to make waterproof

I used to work for supercheap, never saw a faulty one come back to my store (only returned ones were because some bugger helped themselves to stuff in the box while still on the shelf)

I end up bought Ridge Ryder 12000 Lbs with Dynema rope from Supercheap Auto for $549. I'm pretty sure it is the same as Tigerz11 Grande as it has exactly the same specs and same body. Just the solenoid box a little different.

After comparing Ridge Ryder, both Tigerz11 Hercules and Grande and Aldi winch. The Ridge Ryder seems the best value in my opinion.

The Tigerz11 Hercules is a bit too slow with 265:1 gear ratio. I haven't got dual battery set up so I don't want to end up drain my battery if I have to winch it for too long.

Well, after a couple weeks research and comparing :
Tigerz11 Hercules 12000 Lbs steel/ dyneema rope with 265:1 gear ratio for $389/ $499 plus $60 shipping cost.
Tigerz Grande 12000 Lbs steel/ rope with 185:1 gear ratio $559/$639 plus $60 shipping cost.
Aldi winch 9500 Lbs with steel cable and185:1 gear ratio is $400.
Ridge Ryder 12000 Lbs with rope and 185:1 gear ratio is $549.
Apparently even with the current super sale from Tigerz11 Hercules 12000 Lbs is $449 plus postage and handling end up $40 cheaper and free hi lift jack but it is not until 20 September and I think with Ridge Ryder being purchased locally from local Supercheap Auto I feel more confident with the warranty and stuff to deal with instead with Tigerz11 on line shopping as mate of mine took him 6 weeks until they sort it out with the warranty stuff.

I had to make the executive decision though to finally settle with the winch.

Now I can't wait to install it and having fun in the mud using it.

                  Cheers.

I'm sure it will be fine, I'd still be tempted to pull the end off it and pack some nice new grease if the stuff in there is to crappy, also sika the seals of the solenoid box to keep the h2o out

Supercheap warranty is pretty flexible - just keep the receipt.

The thermal paper used in the registers fades in no time at all, make a photocopy or scan it for your records.

make sure if it needs one of there yellow warranty cards (like the batteries do) that they fill it out and give it to you because without it as i found out the warranty is useless.(if from supercheap)
