    overheating mn triton

    Hi all,

just wondering if anybody else has had trouble with their diesel over heating ?
ours has overheated 4 times now, the thermostat has been replaced twice, radiator flushed and cleaned once and mitsubishi don't know whats wrong with it.

it doesn't overheat while under load or up a mountain it will do it just driving along the highway under normal conditions.

we wondering if the thermo fans are faulty ?????

    any ideas????

    cheers Rob

check radiator hoses had this problem before on a hilux petrol turned out when on a trip the top radiator hose would suck flat and impede flow.
use good quality hoses only.some hoses use to have an internal spring but havent seen one like this for a while.

      Triton overheating

      Hi Rob,

Yes, I have experienced overheating as well. 2011 MN Triton GLX-R diesel automatic. It happened on my first trip on the highway driving from Melbourne to Queensland.

I have been to 6 dealerships and not one could find the problem. Mitsubishi could not find any problems and said everything was ok. The overheating happened only after driving 200-400km. On short distances I didn't experience problems. This is probably why there are not many issues. These vehicles are used mainly in trade and don't do the long km as much as the touring Pajero.

Thermostat replaced (3x), water pump replaced, radiator replaced, and in the end the cylinder head was cracked. I am still not confident that the original issue has been resolved as I think there could be a defect somewhere in the engine. Still investigating. Have you found any more news?

Also, when I purchased the vehicle I was experiencing poor performance in acceleration at traffic lights and had no power while driving around town. It was in 5th gear at 50km/hr and I had to take it out of Automatic and manually gear down to 4th gear to drive normally.

        Hey Rob,

Have you had a look on the Triton Forum - www.newtriton.net?

Search 'overheating', there is a thread discussing the problem.
